Senior Data Scientist – NLP & LLMs

As a Senior Data Scientist (NLP & LLMs) at Gong, you will combine strong hands-on machine learning, deep understanding in LLMs, and sharp product thinking to build the next generation of Gong AI. You’ll work with real customer interaction data, design and run large-scale experiments, and partner closely with Product and Engineering to turn cutting-edge LLM capabilities into impactful features that our customers love.

You’ll collaborate with a team of exceptional data scientists, data analysts, and prompt engineers, and you’ll be a key driver in shaping how Gong uses LLMs, NLP practices, and data to power our product.

In this role, you will:

  • Own the AI Product Lifecycle
Partner with Product Managers to translate ambiguous customer needs into concrete ML problems. You will define success metrics, assess technical feasibility, and drive the roadmap from ideation to production deployment.
  • Build Agentic Workflows & Evaluation Frameworks
Support establishing the Gong Agent. You will design multi-step reasoning flows and build the evaluation harnesses needed to benchmark and stabilize agentic behavior.
  • Deploy Advanced NLP & ML Techniques
Implement the optimal technical strategy for the problem at hand, ranging from advanced RAG and unsupervised clustering to fine-tuning custom models for domain adaptation.
  • Drive Semantic Data Strategy
Deeply analyze the "meaning" within our data to extract signals from noise. You will define the ground truth, develop heuristics, and design schemas that allow machines to parse the nuance, intent, and dynamics of long-form, unstructured human conversation.
  • Industrialize Experimentation at Scale
Build robust Python pipelines that support systematic comparison of prompts, models, and architectures. You will design offline benchmarks and online tests to move quality measurement beyond "vibes" to statistically significant insights.
  • Tell the Story with Data
Synthesize complex experimental results into clear, actionable insights. You will tell data-driven stories that help stakeholders understand trade-offs and make evidence-based decisions.
  • Drive Academic & Technical Excellence
Cultivate scientific rigor and technical mastery. You will mentor the team on translating SOTA NLP papers into production-grade code, ensuring our solutions are both theoretically sound and architecturally robust.

Form CC-305
OMB Control Number 1250-0005
Expires 04/30/2026

Why are you being asked to complete this form?

We are a federal contractor or subcontractor. The law requires us to provide equal employment opportunity to qualified people with disabilities. We have a goal of having at least 7% of our workers as people with disabilities. The law says we must measure our progress towards this goal. To do this, we must ask applicants and employees if they have a disability or have ever had one. People can become disabled, so we need to ask this question at least every five years.

Completing this form is voluntary, and we hope that you will choose to do so. Your answer is confidential. No one who makes hiring decisions will see it. Your decision to complete the form and your answer will not harm you in any way. If you want to learn more about the law or this form, visit the U.S. Department of Labor’s Office of Federal Contract Compliance Programs (OFCCP) website at www.dol.gov/ofccp.
