Director, Content Marketing

Austin | Chicago | New York City | Salt Lake City | San Francisco

Gong harnesses the power of AI to transform how revenue teams win. The Gong Revenue AI Operating System unifies data, insights, and workflows into a single, trusted system that observes, guides, and acts alongside the world’s most successful revenue teams. Powered by the Gong Revenue Graph, AI-powered intelligence, specialized agents, and trusted applications, Gong helps more than 5,000 companies around the world deeply understand their teams and customers, automate critical sales workflows, and close more deals with less effort. For more information, visit www.gong.io.

At Gong, you will join a company built on innovative products, ambitious goals, and passionate people. We are shaping the future of revenue intelligence and we want people who are excited to build what comes next. You will work with a team that dreams big, moves fast, and cares deeply about the craft and about each other. Here, transparency and trust are core to how we operate, and every person has the opportunity to make a visible impact. If you want to grow, stretch, and do work that truly matters, Gong is the place to do the best work of your career.

Gong is the Revenue AI Operating System powering the world's leading go-to-market organizations. We're looking for a Director of Content Marketing who is, first and foremost, an exceptional writer — someone who brings a distinct voice, rigorous craft, and genuine conviction to everything Gong publishes.

This is a builder's role. You'll write, edit, and set the standard for what great looks like — then partner with your team to reach it and amplify it consistently. You'll own the full content engine across the customer journey: thought leadership, customer stories, Gong Labs research, digital content, and the narrative frameworks that connect all of it to how buyers actually think and decide.

We're looking for someone who thinks like a media builder, not a content scheduler. Someone who can define a clear editorial point of view, own the AI landscape, create formats worth coming back to, and understand how stories travel across channels. You care deeply about substance over surface — and you believe content done right is a genuine competitive differentiator, not a supporting function.

You bring strong editorial judgment, a thoughtful perspective on where AI fits in a content operation, and a constant eye on where the best content in the industry is being made and why.

Gong has a rare set of raw ingredients: proprietary data, a passionate customer base, and a product that sits in the room where revenue actually gets made. The person in this role gets to turn those ingredients into a content engine that entertains, informs, and shapes how the market thinks. You'll have editorial independence and real cross-functional influence to do it right.

If you obsess over craft, have strong opinions about what makes content worth reading, and want to build something that matters — this is the opportunity!

RESPONSIBILITIES

Voice & Writing Excellence

  • Be Gong's best writer. Set and protect a distinct, data-backed, opinionated brand voice across all channels.
  • Write highly effective content, including flagship thought leadership, editorial positions, key campaign narratives, and raise the quality floor across every content format.
  • Serve as editor-in-chief: give in-the-trenches editorial feedback that makes your team meaningfully better, not just compliant.

Narrative & Thought Leadership

  • Own the Gong narrative. Translate complex concepts such as Agentic AI, Revenue Graphs, and Agent / Human Orchestration into clear, provocative stories that resonate with revenue leaders.
  • Lead thought leadership strategy across blog, social, video, and earned media, ensuring Gong has a credible and consistent POV in its category.
  • Champion customer storytelling: develop a systematic approach to capturing and amplifying customer outcomes that feel real and impactful.

Gong Labs & Original Research

  • Partner with data science to evolve Gong Labs into the industry's most trusted source of revenue insights — content backed by real pipeline and call data that no competitor can replicate.
  • Commission and shape original research reports, data studies, and benchmarks that generate earned media, backlinks, and brand authority.

Content Strategy & Demand Impact

  • Build content frameworks mapped to the full customer journey—from awareness through expansion—that demonstrably improve conversion and shorten sales cycles.
  • Partner with Product Marketing, Growth, and Sales to ensure content operates as a revenue lever across the full go-to-market motionContent you create should show up in awareness campaigns, sales plays, ABM programs, and enterprise standardization decks.
  • Own strategic KPIs: measure KPIs such as brand share of voice, organic traffic, and pipeline influence, and use the data to finetune and improve content impact accordingly.

Team Leadership & Editorial Operations

  • Lead and grow a team of content marketers, providing hands-on editorial mentorship and career development.
  • Build and manage a bench of world-class freelancers and agency partners who can flex with demand without diluting brand quality.
  • Architect a scalable content engine: content guidelines, editorial calendars, content briefs, quality rubrics, and distribution workflows that sustain high velocity without sacrificing integrity.
QUALIFICATIONS
  • 10+ years of content leadership at a high-growth B2B company or in high-tier business journalism with a portfolio that demonstrates genuine craft.
  • Proven ability to lead and develop a team of in-house and freelance creatives at high velocity.
  • Exceptional writing and editing skills. You are the kind of person who will rework a headline five times because the first version was not quite right.
  • Deep product empathy. You can spend an afternoon in a product demo, talk to three customers, and come out with a sharp, credible editorial angle that engineers and buyers both recognize as true.
  • Strong grasp of B2B buyer journeys and content's role in demand generation—you've built frameworks that connect editorial to pipeline, and you can prove it.
  • AI fluency: You understand how LLMs and AI agents are reshaping both how work gets done and how content gets discovered and consumed. You're already using these tools to optimize and transform your and your team’s work.
  • Your portfolio and experience demonstrates writing that prioritizes density, utility, and a clear point of view over generic industry language or buzzwords.
  • Strategic KPI ownership: You've mapped content programs directly to business outcomes and can speak fluently about attribution, share of voice, and pipeline influence

Why are you being asked to complete this form?

We are a federal contractor or subcontractor. The law requires us to provide equal employment opportunity to qualified people with disabilities. We have a goal of having at least 7% of our workers as people with disabilities. The law says we must measure our progress towards this goal. To do this, we must ask applicants and employees if they have a disability or have ever had one. People can become disabled, so we need to ask this question at least every five years.

Completing this form is voluntary, and we hope that you will choose to do so. Your answer is confidential. No one who makes hiring decisions will see it. Your decision to complete the form and your answer will not harm you in any way. If you want to learn more about the law or this form, visit the U.S. Department of Labor’s Office of Federal Contract Compliance Programs (OFCCP) website at www.dol.gov/ofccp.
