Service Designer – Contract

Remote / Hybrid

We're looking for a service designer to be part of our first digital delivery team, who will help us show the value of service design. This is an opportunity to help define how digital delivery happens at GovTech Barbados.

This is complex, hands-on work. You’ll need to bring others with you, win trust across ministries, and design services that make sense in both policy and practice. You’ll be working in a multidisciplinary team delivering high-impact outcomes and designing how services work end-to-end. You’ll need deep experience in complex organisations or governments, the confidence to work with ambiguity, and the willingness to share your process so others can follow.

What you do well

  • Map current and future service journeys
  • Design service blueprints and prototypes
  • Facilitate co-design workshops with stakeholders and users
  • Support delivery teams with practical design input
  • Be open to sharing responsibility for the design of the service with other members of the team
  • Understand the user touchpoints in any service and design services with the right considerations for people, technology and government.
  • Work collaboratively with other specialists and government officials.

What you’ll bring

  • Proven experience of working in large-scale digital transformation for government, complex public sector environments or similar organisations
  • Demonstrated ability to work autonomously and document processes
  • Experience and interest and opinion about the use of AI in your work and how AI can be used to benefit digital delivery
  • Degree in Service Design, Design Thinking, HCD, or equivalent practical experience

What you’ll deliver

  • End-to-end service blueprints
  • Documented service patterns and design artefacts
  • Simplification of complex government services
  • Contribution to the delivery and transformation of digital services
  • Upskilling and sharing knowledge with other members of the team
