Senior Product Designer, Cost Management and Billing | Sweden | Remote

Sweden (Remote)

Grafana Labs is a remote-first, open-source powerhouse. There are more than 20M users of Grafana, the open source visualization tool, around the globe, monitoring everything from beehives to climate change in the Alps. The instantly recognizable dashboards have been spotted everywhere from a NASA launch and Minecraft HQ to Wimbledon and the Tour de France. Grafana Labs also helps more than 3,000 companies -- including Bloomberg, JPMorgan Chase, and eBay -- manage their observability strategies with the Grafana LGTM Stack, which can be run fully managed with Grafana Cloud or self-managed with the Grafana Enterprise Stack, both featuring scalable metrics (Grafana Mimir), logs (Grafana Loki), and traces (Grafana Tempo).

We’re scaling fast and staying true to what makes us different: an open-source legacy, a global collaborative culture, and a passion for meaningful work. Our team thrives in an innovation-driven environment where transparency, autonomy, and trust fuel everything we do.

You may not meet every requirement, and that’s okay. If this role excites you, we’d love you to raise your hand for what could be a truly career-defining opportunity.

Senior Product Designer, Cost Management and Billing

This is a remote position. We are looking for candidates in Sweden.

The opportunity

As a Senior Product Designer at Grafana Labs, you will join a growing Product Design organization of more than 25 designers, researchers, and design leaders distributed across six continents. You will work within a 100% remote R&D organization, so strong, proactive remote communication, collaboration, facilitation, and relationship building skills will be essential to your success.

As the Product Designer for Grafana Cloud’s usage and billing experience, you’ll help our customers clearly understand what they’re spending on each of our products. You will focus on making historical, current, and projected future usage transparent and easy to understand, allowing customers to view and analyze exactly what they’ve spent, what they’re spending now, and what they’re likely to spend in the future. Your mission will be to create a unified experience that brings together our diverse product suite—each with its own unique billing model—into a clear, cohesive, and transparent view that builds trust with our users. Your work will empower customers to get from insights to action: optimize their consumption within their desired budget and maximize the value they’re getting from Grafana Cloud.

Over time, you will develop deep expertise in your product area and associated customer and user personas, use cases, and workflows, which will enable you to design tailored, role-driven experiences. You will drive measurable iterative improvements and enable all audiences to understand and optimize their usage and cost.

You will also have an opportunity to contribute to the evolution of the Product Design team at Grafana by coaching and mentoring other designers, collaborating on team internal initiatives, and helping evolve new ways of working, learning, and having fun together as the team scales.

What You’ll Be Doing

  • Enable customers to take action, do cost control and optimise their spend
  • Translate research and data to experiences that are easy to digest and break down complexity
  • Craft communication and visuals to help customers understand their bill
  • Tailor the experience to different target audiences, covering multiple user perspectives
  • Work cross-functionally with peers and leaders in engineering, product management, technical writing, and GTM functions, as well as other members of the Product Design team
  • Prioritise for delivering impact while balancing business priorities, customer wishes and technical considerations
  • Document user needs and pain points, design directions, UX tradeoffs, and detailed designs for specific features and enhancements
  • Execute research and contribute to quantitative and qualitative research initiatives with researchers, cross-functional collaborators, customers, and members of the Grafana user community

What makes you a great fit

  • 7+ years of relevant design experience working on B2B/enterprise software products, ideally designing tools and services for developers or other highly technical users
  • A portfolio of effective designs for complex products delivered in a fast-paced environment
  • Experience running qualitative research in complex fields, building empathy with users and humans, their needs and pain points even when you have very little in common with them
  • Ability to make design decisions that appropriately balance business goals, product priorities, customer feedback, research insights, and technical considerations
  • Ability to collaborate with cross-functional teams across multiple locations and time-zones to iteratively ship and evolve products while keeping the end design vision in mind
  • Attention to detail and willingness to learn about a complex, very technical product space
  • Experience working in a fully-remote, fast-paced environment where you are expected to share openly, default to transparency, and embrace your autonomy

Bonus points for

  • Experience designing easy-to-grasp finance, billing or cost-related workflows
  • Ability to rapidly gain an understanding of a technical domain and associated customer needs and user workflows in order to design effective experiences within that domain
  • Domain knowledge or experience related to observability, cloud infrastructure, and/or database monitoring, administration, and optimization
  • Experience helping design teams, especially at engineering led companies, level up their practice, collaboration with partner functions, and user and organizational impact

Why are you being asked to complete this form?

We are a federal contractor or subcontractor. The law requires us to provide equal employment opportunity to qualified people with disabilities. We have a goal of having at least 7% of our workers as people with disabilities. The law says we must measure our progress towards this goal. Completing this form is voluntary, and we hope that you will choose to do so. Your answer is confidential. No one who makes hiring decisions will see it. Your decision to complete the form and your answer will not harm you in any way. If you want to learn more about the law or this form, visit the U.S. Department of Labor’s Office of Federal Contract Compliance Programs (OFCCP) website at www.dol.gov/ofccp.
