System Validation and Compliance Engineer

Job Summary

We are seeking a highly motivated individual with experience in managing system validation and compliance in a high-tech manufacturing organisation. The ideal candidate will be hands-on, comfortable with ambiguity and able to manage multiple projects and stakeholders simultaneously.

The Team

The Graphcore Quality Team delivers outstanding customer experience and champions sustainable excellence throughout Graphcore. We are responsible for customer, supply chain and product quality, as well as organisational compliance, governance and assurance. You will be joining a diverse team of experts in these domains based in our Bristol, Cambridge (UK) and Hsinchu (Taiwan) offices.

Responsibilities and Duties

1. Lead end-to-end validation of server-level and rack-level systems, including Thermal, Reliability, Shock/Vibration, Acoustics, EMC, Safety, Environmental (ENV, RoHS, REACH), and Energy Efficiency, covering both air and liquid cooling technologies.
2. Provide technical guidance and leadership on product validation and compliance, ensuring alignment with industry standards and global regulations.
3. Define, implement, and drive product validation and compliance strategies for both new and existing server products.
4. Develop a clear compliance roadmap tailored to different geographical and technological market segments.
5. Establish and maintain strong partnerships with manufacturing partners, certified test laboratories, and internal engineering, operations and product management teams.
6. Ensure all product validation and certification targets are met while maintaining accurate documentation and compliance records.
7. Demonstrate expert technical knowledge in designing and implementing server system validation methodologies.

Candidate Profile 

Essential:

• Bachelor’s or Master’s degree in Electrical Engineering, Mechanical Engineering, Computer Engineering, or a related field.
• 5+ years hands-on experience in product validation, compliance, or certification within server systems or data center environments.
• In-depth understanding of server validation industry standards, including Thermal, Reliability, Shock/Vibration, Acoustics, EMC, and Safety testing.
• Hands-on experience with air cooling and liquid cooling validation.
• Strong and collaborative approach to problem-solving
• Acute attention to detail with documentation and reporting skills to maintain compliance records.

Desirable:

• Experience working with third-party certified test laboratories.
• Knowledge of global regulatory compliance requirements for IT hardware.
• Familiarity with data center infrastructure and high-performance computing environments.
• Experience with global certification processes, such as FCC, UL, CE, CB, BSMI, VCCI, UAE, RoHS, REACH, or other international regulatory certifications.
