The Team 

Graphcore’s Hardware Engineering Team creates both products for sale in volume production and hardware test & validation systems. 

These systems allow Graphcore’s customers to develop leading-edge machine-leaning solutions for training and inference. 

Reporting to the PCB CAD Team Lead, the PCB CAD Designer will be helping to design and develop the next generation PCB’s within Graphcore’s Hardware department.  

 

What you’ll be doing

You will be developing designs in close collaboration with hardware, mechanical and signal integrity engineers within the department. You will be helping to define complex PCB stack ups and determine suitable constraints to be applied on the design in collaboration with our lead PCB Fabricators. You will be experienced in all aspects of PCB design from high power, multi-phase power supplies to high-speed digital design that includes SERDES, Ethernet, DDR and PCIE.

  • Development of mass production, test and development PCBs and for Graphcore’s family of processors. 
    Includes: - 
  • Schematic & Footprint library creation and management. 
  • Bill of Materials generation and version control 
  • Liaison with procurement & manufacturing operations teams for new, obsolescent and end of life parts. 
  • PCB Manufacturing and assembly data pack generation. 
  • PCB Supplier liaison and management. 
  • PCB layout. 

 

What you’ll bring

Four or more years’ experience in: - 

 

  • Schematic and layout component part library generation and management. 
  • Creating footprints to allow multi-sourced components. 
  • Assisting in-house design constraints to meet different assembly house rules. 
  • Design for manufacture, assembly, and test of the PCB.  
  • Parts list generation and version control, experience in a Product Lifecycle Management tool, such as Arena an advantage. 
  • Export of PCB design data for signal integrity, thermal & mechanical design tools.  
  • Generation & control of manufacturing data packs for PCB and assembly subcontractors. 
  • Mentor or Cadence PCB design flow for schematic capture, design constraints, PCB layout. 
  • Basic knowledge of HDI PCB stackups, via structures, controlled impedance signal routing.  
  • Understanding of layout techniques for the control of EMC, crosstalk and interference. 
  • Able to apply technical knowledge to make sure designs will work correctly the first time. 

 

Desirable  

  • Experience working in a small team in a startup environment, which requires a wide range of skills 
  • An eagerness to participate in all parts of the development cycle from concept to supporting manufacture, assembly and customers
