ABOUT THE ROLE

We are looking for a Sustainability Data Intern who is interested in gaining experience in corporate carbon accounting by supporting our team of carbon accountants through data review, data cleaning, and client resource support. Individuals would assist on projects for clients in various industries with climate-related reporting requirements (CDP, SBTi, SB 253, CSRD, etc.). Position would be part-time hourly (< 20 hours/week) with potential opportunity for full time. 

RESPONSIBILITIES

  • Review client documentation and data (utility data, fuel usage, corporate spend, etc.)
  • Deliver reformatted data for greenhouse gas emission calculations
  • Complete assigned tasks in a timely manner
  • Create visuals from greenhouse gas inventory data for clients
  • Develop technical resources for carbon accounting team and/or clients
  • Communicate with team members about progress, ask questions when needed, and provide high quality deliverables
  • Meet team and client deadlines

QUALIFICATIONS

  • Undergraduate senior, graduate student, or recent grad with or pursuing a Bachelor of Science or Master of Science (preferably with a focus in sustainability, natural resources, ecology, business, etc.)
  • Desire to learn about carbon accounting and corporate sustainability with a climate-related focus
  • High proficiency in Excel (Vlookups, pivot tables, etc.)
  • Strong ability to identify data inconsistencies and conduct basic data analysis
  • Thrives in a team environment and can take direction from senior team members
  • Work independently after task assignment
  • Organized and can work on multiple projects congruently 
  • Professional verbal and written communication skills
  • Proactive mindset and detail oriented 
  • Ability to work in a remote environment OR work out of HQ (Raleigh, NC)

NICE-TO-HAVES

  • Experience with greenhouse gas emission calculations using corporate activity data following the Greenhouse Gas Protocol
  • Knowledge of CDP, SBTi, or other climate-related reporting frameworks
  • Experience creating professional PowerPoints using Google Slides
  • Live in the Raleigh, NC area

Compensation will be hourly based on experience.
