Senior Carbon Accountant
ROLE
We are looking for a highly motivated Senior Carbon Accountant to support the end-to-end delivery of carbon footprints and climate reporting disclosures aligned with industry standards. This person will lead clients through technical conversations about carbon accounting and reporting across Scopes 1, 2, and 3, while reviewing and supporting work of junior team members. Clients range in size, industry, and location, and this person will provide expert guidance on preparing for and reporting to mandatory and voluntary frameworks such as CDP, EcoVadis, SBTi, and Microsoft. Additional cross-functional support expected as needed in product development, customer success, and business development.
KEY EXPERIENCE
Must Haves:
- 4+ years’ experience in corporate GHG emissions accounting across multiple sectors, acquired either in-house or in a consultancy environment.
- High level of expertise in the GHG Protocol demonstrated through experience calculating scope 1, 2 AND 3 emissions.
- Knowledge of reporting frameworks such as CDP, Ecovadis, SBTi, SB 253, CSRD or supplier/investor requirements (ex. Microsoft, Vista Equity, etc), and experience preparing disclosures for these frameworks.
- Advanced knowledge of carbon accounting and reporting standards and programs (e.g., ISO 14064, GHG Protocol, TCR)
- Knowledge of GHG reduction strategies and implementation recommendations.
- Understanding of Life Cycle Assessments and Product Carbon Footprints
- Management experience providing technical guidance, feedback, and leadership to junior team members.
- Strong interpersonal skills and the ability to communicate complex information to non-technical audiences, ideally gained through client-facing consulting experience.
- High level of proficiency in Google Sheets or Microsoft Excel.
Nice-to-haves that will make you stand out:
- Prior experience with carbon management enterprise software solutions (or similar)
- Experience with calculating Category 15 emissions using PCAF standards
- Knowledge of third-party audits of inventories, and with auditors/assurance providers
- Familiarity or experience with CSRD, supplier engagement, inventory management plans, and decarbonization roadmaps
- Experience with climate risk assessments
- Enjoys independent research & process improvement deployments

- Advanced proficiency with Microsoft Excel, Google Sheets, Asana, and Slack
- Professional presence with the ability to quickly establish personal credibility and demonstrate expertise
- Able to work on virtual teams across different time zones
