Integrated Pest Management Supervisor

The Role  

The IPM Supervisor works to solve and enforce core Integrated Pest Management (IPM) and biosecurity directives of GTI as set by the Director of IPM and Biosecurity and Regional Support team. This role will be based around at a site but travel as needed for assessments in assigned regional sites.   

 

Essential functions:  

  • Manage and ensure execution of directives with onsite teams in their work region.   
  • Includes interpretation of SOP and Policy and finding solutions to site specific required changes or alterations.  
  • Communicate alterations to the SOP or Policy to Regional Support Team and Director of IPM and Biosecurity when they are proposed.   
  • Collaborates with the Site's Head Growers and IPM Techs (if present) to provide feedback and solutions that otherwise prevent adherence to SOP.   
  • Provides in-person training to on-site team members involved in IPM or biosecurity tasks including:   
  • Application techniques  
  • Data entry  
  • Scouting  
  • PPE use  
  • Calculating around pesticide, fertilizer, or sterilant dosing  
  • Gap identification in biosecurity or biosecurity processes  
  • Provides on-site, in-region technical expertise for pest and diseases identification, data tracking and management, and process improvement in the region.   
  • Provide a point of regional contact regarding laws and regulations for pesticide use as well as worker protection standards for the appropriate internal stakeholders.   
  • Train directly with the director of IPM and biosecurity on key aspects of process and GTI procedures and policies as well as on-site policies, procedures and processes.   
  • The role shall be required to provide coverage for the Director of IPM and Biosecurity in the event of absence.   

 

Safety & Compliance:  

  • Be aware of hazards in the workspace. 
  • Retain and understand department specific training. 
  • Report safety incidents/ concerns and comply with follow-up actions. 
  • Be compliant with area safety requirements, state regulations and PPE requirements. 
  • Follow GMP, biosecurity, sanitation or other quality and compliance requirements. 
  • Perform record keeping accurately and completely as directed by a lead or supervisor. 
  • Maintain and calibrate tools, equipment and machinery as directed by a lead or supervisor. 
  • Report and escalate safety & quality concerns. 

 

Working Conditions 

  • While performing the duties of this job, the employee is regularly required to perform reaching, grasping, bending, stooping, talking, hearing, seeing and repetitive motions. 
  • Must be able to repetitively climb ladders and/or stairs and work from elevated platforms. 
  • Must be able to sit and/or stand for extended periods of time while maintaining focus. 
  • Must be able to lift, carry, and balance up to 50 pounds (and up to 100 pounds with assistance) AND must be able to do so with extreme care and caution when working with product. 
  • Must be able to work in an environment that is 85+ degrees and 70% humidity for extended periods. 
  • Must be able to work at heights. 
  • Ability to work in a fast-paced, changing, and challenging environment 

 

  • Will be required to pass respirator fit testing and will be required to obtain certifications in WPS training and in Private Pesticide Application in multiple states.   
  • Work involves daily exposure to allergens (such as cannabis, tree nuts, and coconut oil) 

Qualifications 

  • College degree, Biology, Ecology, or Plant, Soil and Insect Science or related field or commensurate professional experience may be considered in lieu of educational background.  
  • Preferred work in agriculture, ecology, or disease and insect management with proven ability to use data management tools such as excel.   
  • Cannabis experience a plus but not required.  
  • Must have excellent written and verbal communication skills.   
  • Highly motivated, self-directed, innovative and able to work independently or among teams with keen judgement, common sense and resourcefulness  
  • Must be able to collaborate well with various stakeholders on projects or the implementation of new processes  
  • Adapts and thrives in a demanding, fast-paced environment  
  • Possesses a high level of critical thinking  
  • Operates with a high level of professionalism and integrity, including dealing with confidential information  
  • Must understand and comply with the rules, regulations, policies, and procedures of Green Thumb  

 

Additional Requirements 

  • Must be at a minimum of 21 years of age. 
  • Must possess valid state ID. 
  • Must be able to obtain, and maintain, state badging requirements to work in the cannabis industry (requires background check and state review) 

 

 

The pay range is competitive and based on experience, qualifications, and/or location of the role. Positions may be eligible for a discretionary annual incentive program driven by organization and individual performance.

Green Thumb Pay Range

$60,000 - $75,000 USD
