Painter Journeyman

 

 

GROOME INDUSTRIAL SERVICE GROUP is a growing company in Denville, NJ providing specialty maintenance services nationwide for several industries including natural gas-fired power generation, refinery, shipping, manufacturing, and aviation. If you have any of the following experience, you may be a great fit! 

The Painter Journeyman position requires a willingness to learn and perform a variety of trades and specialty skills in the industrial maintenance sector. These will include, but not be limited to painting, safely operate heavy equipment or any other company vehicle; complete all paperwork related to the position / project. In addition, power washing, scaffolding, vacuuming, shoveling, blasting, grinding, construction, demolition.

Requirements:

  • Use of different paints, primers, and stains
  • Use of a spray pump
  • Pressure washing/hydro blasting.
  • Surface prep - sandblasting, dry ice blasting, sponge blasting
  • Safe use of ladders and scaffolding
  • Installation of cables for rigging for installation of suspended platforms and suspended scaffold
  • Comfortable with working at heights up to 200 feet
  • Must be able to work overtime as needed
  • Ability to work in a manufacturing environment with exposure to harsh chemicals and temperatures (cooler)
  • Strong sense of responsibility and attention to detail
  • Good physical condition and strength with ability to lift 50 pounds (approx.)
  • Valid driver’s license and reliable transportation
  • Experience in marine coating (not required)

Physical Requirements:

  • The ability to lift 25/50/80 pounds regularly
  • The ability to move safely over uneven terrain or in confined spaces
  • The ability to safely climb ladders
  • The ability to work in extreme weather
  • The ability to wear personal protective gear correctly most of the day
  • Ability to interact with co-workers, follow work instructions and work independently, when needed
  • Ability to understand and adhere to industry/company safety standards
  • Out of state work for indeterminate time, traveling by air or by car, hotel stay
  • Various hours including nights and weekends
  • Must be willing to be available 24/7

Qualifications & Experience:

  • At least 2-7 years’ experience in commercial or industrial painting is required
  • Hand-tool experience required
  • Power-tool experience required
  • Experience in construction, siding, demolition
  • Basic mechanical skills required
  • High school diploma or equivalent is a plus
  • Bilingual communication in Spanish/English; must read and write English
  • Must have a clean driving record

While performing the duties of this job, the employee is regularly exposed to outside weather conditions. The noise level in the work environment can be moderate to severe.

Work Hours: Shift start and stop times are determined by our customers. There is an expectation that the employee will be required periodically to work afternoon and/or evening shifts in addition to more traditional dayshifts. Availability on weekends and for emergencies is also required.

Travel: Travel is required for out of state work, traveling by air or by vehicle, including hotel stays. The length of travel will be agreed upon by employee and management per project at the beginning of each job.
