Job Overview
The Service Trainer is responsible for developing, coordinating, and delivering high-quality, hands-on technical training programs to service technicians working at our authorized EV dealer network. This role requires travel to various dealer locations and training centers to ensure all technicians possess the knowledge and skills necessary to maintain Harbinger's vehicles to the highest standard of quality and safety. The ideal candidate will have a passion for teaching and a strong background in electric vehicles and related technologies. This role will involve designing, developing, and delivering training programs for electric vehicle technicians, maintenance personnel, and other stakeholders.
What You'll Do
- Training Delivery
- Conduct comprehensive, multi-day, instructor-led technical training sessions on EV-specific topics, including high-voltage architecture and safety procedures, battery systems, charging infrastructure, powertrain components, vehicle networking, diagnostics, low voltage architecture, chassis and advanced driver-assistance systems (ADAS).
- Deliver training using a variety of methods, including classroom instruction, hands-on labs, virtual sessions, and on-the-job coaching.
- Adapt training style and content to meet the needs of diverse audiences and experience levels.
- Serve as a technical resource and mentor for service technicians, providing guidance and support to enhance their skills and knowledge.
- Curriculum Development & Maintenance
- Collaborate with Engineering, Service Operations, and Technical Publications teams to develop new training modules and update existing materials based on new vehicle launches, service bulletin changes, and emerging field issues.
- Create and maintain training aids, lab vehicles, diagnostic tools, and participant manuals.
- Maintain expert level knowledge of Harbinger vehicles systems, technologies and repair systems.
- Assessment & Certification
- Develop and administer practical and written exams to evaluate technician competency.
- Manage and track dealer technician certification progress within the company's Learning Management System (LMS).
- Field Support & Feedback
- Act as a technical resource, providing ad-hoc support and coaching to dealer service management and technicians.
- Collect feedback from the dealer network on training effectiveness and technical documentation to drive continuous improvement.
- Safety & Compliance
- Ensure all training emphasizes and strictly adheres to company and industry standards for high-voltage safety and proper use of specialized service equipment.
- Travel
- Maintain a flexible schedule with required domestic travel up to 50% to various dealer sites and regional training centers. Can be heavier or lighter at times.
Who You Are
- Experience
- Minimum of 5+ years of experience as a Service Technician, Automotive Trainer, or in a related technical role.
- Minimum of 2+ years of direct experience working with or training on High Voltage (HV) EV systems and components.
- Technical Expertise
- Deep understanding of automotive electrical theory, diagnostic procedures, and vehicle systems.
- Proven ability to read and interpret complex wiring diagrams, schematics, and service manuals.
- Must hold or be able to immediately obtain a recognized certification in High-Voltage EV Safety (e.g., from an OEM, SAE, ASE or industry standard body).
- Training/Soft Skills
- Exceptional presentation, communication, and interpersonal skills.
- Demonstrated proficiency in developing and delivering engaging technical content to adult learners.
- Education
- Associate’s Degree in Automotive Technology, Technical Education, or a related field; or equivalent experience.
Preferred Qualifications
- Bachelor’s Degree in a technical or education-related field.
- Prior experience in a dealer or OEM training role.
- Familiarity with Learning Management Systems (LMS) and virtual training platforms.

California Pay Range
$70,000 - $110,000 USD
