Technical Consultant, Finance Systems Technology

Harbor is seeking a Technical Consultant to join our Financial Systems team within our Legal Technology and Operations (LT+O) practice group. The Technical Consultant will be responsible for the design, deployment, and optimization of the server, database, and infrastructure components that underpin the Elite 3E platform. This role ensures that the environment is robust, scalable, secure, and aligned with best practices for high‑availability enterprise financial systems within a law firm.

The ideal candidate combines deep infrastructure engineering skills with hands-on experience supporting financial or ERP applications—preferably Elite 3E. This person will partner closely with application administrators, finance stakeholders, and infrastructure teams to deliver stable operations and successful platform upgrades. This role will require off hours and weekend work to support client go-lives and other regions as needed.  This is a fully remote position that can be worked from anywhere in the USA, Canada or UK.


Key Responsibilities:

Elite 3E Infrastructure Architecture & Maintenance:

  • Design, implement, and maintain the server architecture that supports Elite 3E and its associated components
  • Manage on‑premises, cloud, or hybrid hosting environments supporting the platform
  • Ensure adherence to vendor design principles, performance tuning recommendations, and security guidelines

Upgrade Management:

  • Execute the infrastructure tasks for Elite 3E upgrades
  • Create and maintain environment refresh processes (e.g., DEV → TEST → PROD).
  • Coordinate downtime planning, risk assessments, and rollback procedures.

SQL Server Management

  • Configure, optimize, and maintain SQL Server environments supporting Elite 3E databases.
  • Perform performance tuning, query optimization, and index management.

Operational Support

  • Troubleshoot server-level issues impacting Elite 3E availability or performance.
  • Provide escalated support for system outages and critical incidents.

Required Skills and Experience:

Technical Expertise:

  • Elite 3E infrastructure experience (installations, upgrades, environment setup, services administration) strongly preferred.
  • Windows Server engineering including IIS, Active Directory, certificates, and service configurations.
  • Microsoft SQL Server administration: backups, performance tuning, failover clustering, AlwaysOn, security.
  • Familiarity with Enterprise Service Bus, task server frameworks, or workflow engines.
  • Understanding of finance/ERP application architecture, batch processing, and integration points.

Scripting & Automation:

  • Proficiency in PowerShell, batch scripting, and task scheduling.
  • Experience automating deployments or server configuration preferred.

Cloud & Virtualization (Preferred):

  • Microsoft Azure architecture (VMs, storage, AD, networking).
  • Experience with VMware or Hyper‑V environments.

Soft Skills:

  • Strong documentation habits.
  • Ability to translate technical concepts to non‑technical stakeholders.
  • Effective collaborator with both technical and finance/accounting teams.
  • Strong troubleshooting and root-cause analysis capabilities.

Qualifications:

  • Bachelor's degree in Information Technology, Computer Science, or related field (or equivalent experience).
  • 5+ years infrastructure or systems engineering experience.
  • 4+ years supporting Elite 3E or comparable ERP/financial systems (preferred).
  • Microsoft certifications (e.g., MCSE, Azure Administrator, SQL Server certifications) are a plus.
