Salary and benefits will be highly competitive, equitable, and commensurate with experience. Salaries range from $35,000-$40,000 based on experience and qualifications.

What’s the role
The Emotional Support Classroom Counselor is committed to supporting students with emotional disabilities and other health impairments to gain academic and behavioral success in the special education and general education setting. Candidates for this position do NOT need to speak Hebrew. The school is eager to consider applications from traditionally underrepresented groups.
What you’ll do
- Ability to implement small group academic supports
- Ability to teach and reinforce appropriate positive behaviors
- Ability to de-escalate and manage student in crisis
- Ability to collaborate with general and special education teachers to implement Positive Behavior Supports for student with Emotional Support needs
- Ability to work as a team member to create and reinforce a healthy classroom culture for staff and students.
- Completing other identified tasks
- Detail-oriented and committed to collect specified behavioral data to support student programming
- Strong interpersonal communication skills
- Ability to work well as a member of a classroom and school team
- Results-oriented individual – a flexible thinker willing to do “whatever it takes.”
- Open to continuously develop behavioral management skills through professional development
Who you are
- Associate’s Degree (or at least 60 college credits) or passing score of ParaPro exam required; Education-related field preferred
- Experience working with students receiving special education services required
- Behavioral management knowledge required
- Experience working with adolescents, school-setting experience preferred
- Experience working with student with Emotional Support needs preferred
Physical Requirements: Ability to physically perform the duties and to work in the environmental conditions required such as maneuvering in classrooms and physically supporting students in the classroom; Standing, walking, sitting for long periods of time, speak loudly and clearly, seeing and hearing things both near and far away, stooping, kneeling, fine finger and hand manipulation in use of a computer, chalkboard, dry erase board or projector.
