Role Summary
The Manufacturing Intern will support Heven AeroTech's manufacturing and production teams in the assembly, testing, documentation, and continuous improvement of advanced unmanned aerial systems (UAS). This position provides hands-on experience in a fast-paced aerospace manufacturing environment and offers the opportunity to work alongside experienced manufacturing, engineering, quality, and operations professionals.

The ideal candidate is mechanically inclined, detail-oriented, safety-conscious, and eager to gain practical experience in aerospace manufacturing and production.

Essential Responsibilities

• Assist with the assembly, integration, and testing of UAS components and systems.
• Support manufacturing personnel with day-to-day production activities and assigned projects.
• Assist with the preparation, organization, and staging of materials, components, tools, and equipment.
• Follow work instructions, drawings, assembly procedures, and other manufacturing documentation.
• Assist with inspection and verification of components and completed assemblies.
• Identify and communicate potential quality issues, defects, or discrepancies to appropriate personnel.
• Support manufacturing process improvement and lean manufacturing initiatives.
• Assist with maintaining accurate production records, inventory information, and manufacturing documentation.
• Collect and organize production data to support process analysis and continuous improvement efforts.
• Collaborate with Engineering, Quality, Procurement, and other cross-functional teams to support production objectives.
• Participate in manufacturing meetings, training, and safety activities.
• Maintain a clean, organized, and safe work environment.
• Follow all company safety policies, procedures, and quality requirements.
• Perform other duties and special projects as assigned.

Qualifications & Experience

Required

• Currently enrolled in or recently graduated from an accredited college, university, or technical program pursuing a degree or certificate in Manufacturing Engineering, Mechanical Engineering, Industrial Engineering, Aerospace Engineering, Engineering Technology, Manufacturing Technology, or a related field.
• Strong attention to detail and commitment to quality.
• Basic understanding of mechanical and manufacturing concepts.
• Ability to read and follow detailed instructions, procedures, and technical documentation.
• Strong organizational and problem-solving skills.
• Ability to work effectively both independently and as part of a team.
• Strong written and verbal communication skills.
• Basic proficiency with Microsoft Office applications.
• Willingness to work hands-on in a manufacturing environment.
• Eagerness to learn and contribute in a fast-paced environment.
• Proficiency in English (spoken and written) is required to perform the responsibilities of this role.

• If this role requires access to information controlled under U.S. export control laws (ITAR/EAR), applicants must also qualify as a "U.S. person" under 22 CFR §120.62 (U.S. citizen, U.S. national, lawful permanent resident, or protected individual such as an asylee or refugee). 

Preferred

• Hands-on experience with mechanical assembly, fabrication, machining, electronics, or other manufacturing processes.
• Familiarity with engineering drawings, schematics, or bills of materials (BOMs).
• Experience using hand tools, power tools, or measurement equipment.
• Familiarity with Lean Manufacturing, 5S, Six Sigma, or continuous improvement concepts.
• Experience with CAD software or other engineering/manufacturing software.
• Experience working with robotics, UAS, aerospace systems, automotive systems, or other complex hardware.
• Previous internship, work experience, academic project, robotics team, or technical club experience.

Physical Requirements

• Ability to stand and walk for extended periods while performing manufacturing and assembly activities.
• Ability to frequently use hands and fingers to operate tools, equipment, and computer systems.
• Ability to bend, stoop, reach, kneel, and work in various positions as required to perform manufacturing activities.
• Ability to work in office, laboratory, warehouse, manufacturing, and production environments.
• Ability to lift and carry up to 30 pounds occasionally.
• Ability to safely operate or work around manufacturing tools, equipment, and machinery as trained and authorized.
• Ability to wear required personal protective equipment (PPE), including safety glasses, gloves, hearing protection, or other PPE as required.
• Ability to communicate effectively with team members and stakeholders in a manufacturing environment.
