About HeyGen

At HeyGen, our mission is to make visual storytelling accessible to all. Over the last decade, visual content has become the preferred method of information creation, consumption, and retention. But the ability to create such content, in particular videos, continues to be costly and challenging to scale. Our ambition is to build technology that equips more people with the power to reach, captivate, and inspire audiences.

  • Fostering a developer community where users can share projects, get help, and provide feedback.
  • Creating technical content—including tutorials, sample projects, documentation improvements, and videos—that make it easier for developers to integrate HeyGen into their applications.
  • Gathering insights from developers and advocating for their needs within the company.
  • Hosting and participating in events like hackathons, online meetups, and webinars to drive API adoption.

This role is ideal for someone who loves writing code, teaching others, and engaging with developer communities to drive meaningful product improvements.

Key Responsibilities

Educate & Inspire

  • Create technical content (blog posts, tutorials, GitHub examples, videos) to help developers successfully use the HeyGen API.
  • Build and maintain sample applications and SDKs in popular programming languages.
  • Record and publish video walkthroughs and coding demos to simplify integrations.
  • Work with the marketing team to highlight innovative customer use cases of HeyGen’s API.

Foster a Developer Community

  • Engage with developers in forums, Discord, Twitter, and other platforms to answer questions and drive conversations.
  • Organize and participate in hackathons, webinars, meetups, and conferences to showcase HeyGen’s capabilities.
  • Act as a trusted technical advisor, providing guidance and best practices for building with the API.

Improve Documentation & Onboarding

  • Work with product and engineering teams to improve API documentation, ensuring clarity and ease of use.
  • Identify pain points in the developer experience and collaborate with internal teams to enhance usability.
  • Develop step-by-step quick start guides, API cookbooks, and integration walkthroughs.

Gather & Advocate for Developer Feedback

  • Act as the voice of developers internally by collecting feedback and advocating for improvements.
  • Identify common API friction points and work with the product team to refine features and roadmaps.
  • Build relationships with key developers, customers, and ecosystem partners to increase API adoption.

Preferred Qualifications

  • 5+ years of experience in a developer relations, software engineering, or technical advocacy role.
  • Strong coding skills in at least one modern programming language (JavaScript, Python, etc.).
  • Experience working with APIs, SDKs, and cloud-based developer platforms.
  • Exceptional written and verbal communication skills, with the ability to explain technical concepts to both technical and non-technical audiences.
  • Comfortable creating technical content (blog posts, videos, GitHub repositories, documentation).
  • Experience engaging with developer communities (Discord, forums, Stack Overflow, GitHub, Twitter, Reddit, etc.).
  • Passion for hosting and participating in hackathons, meetups, and online developer events.
  • Ability to work cross-functionally with product, engineering, and marketing teams to improve the developer experience.
  • Self-starter who thrives in fast-paced, ambiguous environments and loves interacting with developers.
