Role Overview

West Chester University Hillel is seeking a dynamic, warm and enthusiastic professional for our Program and Engagement Associate opportunity. The right candidate will have contagious passion, an entrepreneurial spirit, superb organizational and communication skills and a commitment to Jewish life. Our Hillel is the perfect place to get to know a growing Jewish student population at a school on the rise and to design or redesign programs to meet students' needs. You will be part of a campus team and the Philly Hillel team forging bonds, transcending boundaries, and activating the Jewish future.

The Program and Engagement Associate is a key member of the professional team responsible for implementing Hillel’s strategic vision of Jewish life on campus. This person works closely with all student leadership and is responsible for reaching out to new and under-involved students. The Program Associate also plays a critical role in all programming that takes place, creating a warm, welcoming environment for Jewish students throughout campus.

What You'll Do

  • Engagement
    • Develop meaningful relationships with Jewish students by meeting them where they live, work and/or study, utilizing creative methods to reach and interest them
    • Identity potential student leaders and work with them to develop leadership skills and strategic thinking
    • Work with students to plan and implement ongoing, annual programs such as festival and holiday celebrations, special Shabbat programs and various social events
    • Support accessible, relevant and meaningful student programming
    • Work with the rabbinic intern on regular Shabbat programming
    • Assist in developing appropriate student committees or task forces to address specific programming areas where there is demand
    • Coordinate the monthly calendar of events
  • Inspiring Jewish Life
    • Ability to motivate and inspire student to go from ideas to action
  • Stakeholder and Community Relations
    • Assist the Executive Director and Assistant Director in making Hillel an indispensable partner to the university
      • Develop relationships with university officials, faculty, student government and other student organizations, building coalitions where appropriate
  • Organization Management
    • Maintain records of programs and attendance for measurement and ongoing evaluation

What You'll Bring to the Job

  • 1-3 years of post-college experience
  • Bachelor's Degree
  • Confidence initiating and running programs, and involving students
  • Comfort asking questions
  • Social media skills 
  • Ability and willingness to collaborate across teams
  • Creative problem-solving
  • Your authentic Jewish self as a model for students 

What You'll Receive

  • The annual salary range for this position is $46,000-$53,000
  • A comprehensive benefits package, including health insurance; retirement plan; life, AD&D and long term disability (LTD) insurances; flexible spending accounts; generous vacation/sick time, and parental leave
  • Supervision from Philly Hillel's Assistant Director who also serves as the Campus Director for West Chester University Hillel
