About the Opportunity

Make a lasting impact on Jewish student life by stepping into the role of Campus Lead at Hillel McMaster. In this position, you will support and empower a team of two dedicated staff members while engaging approximately 700 Jewish students on campus. Working closely with leadership at Hillel Ontario, you will help develop and implement strategic engagement plans that deepen student involvement and expand Hillel’s reach. Hillel McMaster is known for its close-knit, relationship-driven culture, which fosters high student engagement and strong connections between students and staff. Our student community reflects a wide range of Jewish identities and political perspectives. The campus context calls for a thoughtful, student-centered approach to Israel engagement and Jewish advocacy that supports open dialogue and meaningful learning.

Reports to: Senior Vice President, Campus Life

Core Responsibilities 

  • Serve as a warm, visible, and trusted Jewish presence on campus. 
  • Build meaningful relationships with students and foster an inclusive, supportive community.
  •  Mentor, guide, and empower student leaders in their personal, Jewish, and leadership development. 
  • Partner with Hillel leadership to develop and implement strategic engagement plans that deepen student involvement, strengthen Jewish community connections, and expand the reach of campus programming. 
  • Manage, coach, and develop a team of two staff members, with a focus on productivity, wellbeing, and professional growth. 
  • Oversee campus programming and student-led initiatives, encouraging creativity, ownership, and diverse expressions of Jewish life. 
  • Support Israel and Jewish advocacy efforts in collaboration with the Advocacy leadership team, ensuring a thoughtful and student-centered approach. 
  • Manage core administrative and operational functions that enable smooth campus operations. 
  • Build and maintain strong, collaborative relationships with university administrators and campus partners.
  • Provide steady, compassionate leadership during campus crisis, coordinating with Hillel Ontario and campus partners to support student wellbeing and safety.

The scope of the role will vary depending on whether the successful candidate is hired at the Manager or Director level.

Manager-Level 

What You’ll Bring 

  • 3+ years of relevant experience in campus engagement, community programming, or nonprofit leadership. 
  • Strong understanding of Gen Z student culture and engagement strategies, with the ability to design programming and outreach that resonates with today’s campus environment. 
  • Strong relational and program leadership skills, with the ability to build meaningful connections and foster inclusive student communities. 
  • Proven ability to lead and mentor staff and students, supporting leadership development and collaborative teamwork. 
  • Experience managing program budgets with oversight, demonstrating responsible financial stewardship and alignment with organizational priorities.
  • A track record of executing high-quality programming and driving meaningful engagement, while aligning initiatives with the strategic direction set by leadership. 
  • An emerging strategic leader eager to grow into broader organizational leadership and contribute to long-term impact. 

Director-Level 

What You’ll Bring

  • 5+ years of progressive leadership experience, ideally within nonprofit, campus, or community-based organizations. 
  • Demonstrated success leading teams and managing budgets, including oversight of staff development and program operations.
  • Strong strategic thinking skills with the ability to guide organizational growth, set priorities, and translate vision into action. 
  • Experience in fundraising, donor engagement, or partnership development preferred. 
  • Executive presence and strong stakeholder management skills, with the ability to represent the organization and build relationships with campus, community, and organizational partners. 
  • A commitment to advancing the mission and strategic priorities of Hillel Ontario while fostering a thriving Jewish campus community.

  • Salary range: $60,000–$80,000, commensurate with experience and level.
