We are looking for a Senior Database Administrator supporting DOL. 

 

Position Summary

The Senior Database Administrator (DBA) is responsible for leading the analysis, design, implementation, testing, and support of enterprise database and reporting solutions using Business Process Management Suite (BPMS) technologies. This role supports the development of business reports, interactive dashboards, process models, and data integration solutions while ensuring adherence to industry best practices.

The Senior DBA will work closely with end users, stakeholders, and DOL SMEs to ensure reporting functionality and BI applications meet business requirements and operational objectives. The role also includes database administration, ETL development, data migration planning, system integration, performance tuning, and support for large-scale enterprise data environments.

Key Responsibilities

  • Lead the analysis, design, implementation, and testing of database applications and reporting solutions.
  • Develop and maintain process-based reporting solutions using BPMS technologies.
  • Create and implement technical process models, interactive reports, and data simulations.
  • Review and verify application programming to ensure compliance with industry standards and best practices.
  • Collaborate with end users and Department of Labor (DOL) Subject Matter Experts (SMEs) to gather requirements and validate functionality.
  • Design, develop, and maintain enterprise business reports and BI solutions.
  • Support planning and execution of data migration activities.
  • Develop ETL processes and data transfer methodologies for enterprise systems.
  • Perform SQL programming, database normalization, performance tuning, and system optimization.
  • Design and implement solution architectures for large, complex, and interrelated IT systems.
  • Manage secure data transfer mechanisms including SFTP, DB Connect calls, VPN tunnels, and database web services.
  • Configure and support ODI tools, firewall rules, port specifications, and data transfer protocols.
  • Implement and support enterprise data repository solutions handling large-scale datasets.
  • Support querying and management of datasets ranging from millions of records to multi-terabyte environments.
  • Participate in project planning activities following SDLC and Agile methodologies.

Required Qualifications

  • Minimum 10 years of hands-on application development and database administration experience.
  • Strong experience with ETL data transfer methodologies and enterprise reporting structures.
  • Proven expertise with Oracle Data Integrator (ODI), including architecture, models, patterns, and solution development.
  • Minimum 10 years of experience working with Oracle back-end databases, including Oracle 19c or higher.
  • Strong knowledge of SQL programming, ETL tools, database design, normalization, and performance tuning.
  • Experience with system integration and enterprise solution architecture.
  • Hands-on experience with:
    • Secure File Transfer Protocol (SFTP)
    • DB Connect calls
    • VPN tunnels
    • Database Web Services
    • ODI configuration and administration
  • Experience configuring firewall rules, ports, and secure data transfer protocols.
  • Demonstrated understanding of project management methodologies including:
    • SDLC
    • Agile
    • Scrum
  • Experience implementing data repository solutions and supporting large-scale database environments.
  • Experience working with datasets containing millions to billions of records and multi-terabyte storage environments.
  • Minimum 7 years of experience supporting government Grant Program business processes.

Education Requirements

  • Bachelor’s degree in Computer Science, Information Systems, Engineering, or a related field.
  • In lieu of a bachelor’s degree, a minimum of 10 years of relevant professional experience may be considered.

Preferred Skills

  • Strong analytical, problem-solving, and troubleshooting abilities.
  • Excellent communication and stakeholder collaboration skills.
  • Ability to work independently and manage multiple priorities in complex enterprise environments.
  • Experience supporting federal or government IT environments is highly preferred.
