About the Role
We’re building a next-generation camera abstraction layer that enables intelligent imaging experiences across HP’s portfolio of devices. As a Camera Software Engineer, you’ll own the camera stack, connecting diverse sensors to our platform and AI applications.
You will build novel processing pipelines, reduce latency and memory usage, and ensure compatibility across devices. You’ll also take on a leadership role, mentoring peers and driving strategic initiatives across the camera stack. This is a chance to design foundational infrastructure that sits between raw camera feeds and the intelligent systems that drive HP’s future devices.

- Design and maintain the camera stack that abstracts device-specific sensors and imaging APIs.
- Lead technical direction and mentor engineers working on camera software systems.
- Work closely with embedded and vision teams to optimize real-time image pipeline performance.
- Support features like framing, privacy filtering, multi-sensor fusion, and custom pre-processing.
- Enable consistent imaging behavior across Windows platforms and HP hardware configurations.
- Optimize system performance with focus on low-latency, memory safety, and throughput.
Essential Qualifications
- Bachelor’s or Master’s degree in Computer Science, Electrical Engineering, or a related field.
- 8+ years of experience in embedded camera systems or system-level imaging development.
- Experience mentoring engineers and leading cross-functional projects.
- Proficiency in C (preferred) and/or Java.
- Deep understanding of camera hardware interfaces, HALs, and video frameworks.
- Experience with Windows imaging APIs (e.g., DirectShow, UVC).
- Strong debugging, profiling, and performance optimization skills.
- Delivered camera solutions that have shipped in consumer-facing products.
Preferred Qualifications
- Experience building camera systems for conferencing, AR/VR, or sensing environments.
- Familiarity with ISP tuning, HDR pipelines, or ML-enhanced imaging.
- Knowledge of Android camera stack is a plus.
