Senior Product Designer

London, United Kingdom

At Hudl, we build great teams. We hire the best of the best to ensure you’re working with people you can constantly learn from. You’re trusted to get your work done your way while testing the limits of what’s possible and what’s next. We work hard to provide a culture where everyone feels supported, and our employees feel it—their votes helped us become one of Newsweek's Top 100 Global Most Loved Workplaces.

We think of ourselves as the team behind the team, supporting the lifelong impact sports can have: the lessons in teamwork and dedication; the influence of inspiring coaches; and the opportunities to reach new heights. That’s why we help teams from all over the world see their game differently. Our products make it easier for coaches and athletes at any level to capture video, analyze data, share highlights and more.

Your Role

We’re looking for a Senior Product Designer to help shape the foundation of Hudl’s platform: the systems that power how video and data are structured, delivered and experienced across every product.

At Hudl, video and data aren’t just features—they are the product. We need a talented designer who can think beyond individual screens and shape the architecture behind the experience.

In this role, you’ll:

  • Design at the platform layer. You’ll work on the foundations that power multiple applications: video playback standards, data visualization patterns, human-in-the-loop automated tagging models, filtering systems, schemas and workflows that scale across sports and levels.
  • Be a visual and verbal storyteller. You’ll craft and communicate compelling concepts that are forward-facing, built for scale, and relevant to customer and business needs.
  • Turn complexity into clarity. You’ll operate in ambiguous, technical problem spaces—where data models, ingest pipelines and user workflows intersect—and help translate them into intuitive, performant experiences.
  • Collaborate. You’ll be a key decision-maker in partnerships with Engineering, Product, Design, Scrum and Quality.
  • Influence across teams. This isn’t a people manager role, but your decisions will impact multiple business units and product teams. Other designers will look to you for clarity, patterns and scalable solutions.
  • Own quality and outcomes. You’ll ensure accessibility, performance and cohesion across the systems you shape. After shipping, you’ll help measure adoption, performance improvements and workflow efficiency gains.

Location

For this role, we're currently considering candidates in the U.K. who are within commuting distance of our offices in London or Leeds. However, with our flexible work policy, there aren’t any current requirements for the number of days you come to the office.

Must-Haves

  • Systems-level thinking. You think in layers—data, engine, application—not just screens. You understand how foundational decisions ripple across products.
  • Strong communicator. You thrive in a collaborative environment that fosters open and honest communication. You have excellent presentation skills and can confidently sell ideas grounded in a solid rationale and objectives. You’re also comfortable being respectfully blunt when giving and receiving feedback.
  • A problem-solver. You can think critically and holistically about user interactions and designing for scale. You’re able to use these skills to address complex design challenges and provide innovative solutions that factor in technical, business and design constraints.
  • Growth mindset. You’re committed to staying up-to-date with industry trends, emerging technologies and design best practices. You have a strong desire to learn and evolve continuously.
  • Technical expertise. You’re comfortable navigating technical conversations about data structures, performance constraints, and platform tradeoffs. You can advocate for user clarity while respecting system realities.
  • Iterative prototyping skills. You’re a master of using low and high-fidelity prototyping tools and testing techniques based on the needs of the project.
  • Research experience. You’ve planned and conducted qualitative and quantitative user research, and know how to translate insights into actionable product and design outcomes. You’re adept at using various research methodologies to optimize the end-user experience.
  • Organizational skills. You can assess the appropriate level of design and research necessary to achieve your goals, with a plan to reach final deliverables.
  • A robust portfolio. You’re able to showcase a variety of projects that demonstrate your expertise in UX design, including examples of user flows, wireframes, prototypes and final design solutions.

Nice-to-Haves

  • Experience in sports data. You’ve designed products that combine video, analytics, tracking or wearable data, especially for team-based sport environments.
  • Schema or taxonomy experience. You’ve worked on structured data models, tagging systems or unified taxonomies across one or multiple products.
  • AI-enhanced design fluency. You’re comfortable leveraging AI tools to accelerate discovery, prototyping, delivery and documentation, all while maintaining design quality and intent.

Our Role

  • Champion work-life harmony. We’ll give you the flexibility you need in your work life (e.g., flexible vacation time above any required statutory leave, company-wide holidays and timeout (meeting-free) days, remote work options and more) so you can enjoy your personal life too.
  • Guarantee autonomy. We have an open, honest culture and we trust our people from day one. Your team will support you, but you’ll own your work and have the agency to try new ideas.
  • Encourage career growth. We’re lifelong learners who encourage professional development. We’ll give you tons of resources and opportunities to keep growing.
  • Provide an environment to help you succeed. We've invested in our offices, designing incredible spaces with our employees in mind. But whether you’re at the office or working remotely, we’ll provide you the tech you need to do your best work.
  • Support your wellbeing. Depending on location, we offer medical and retirement benefits for employees—but no matter where you’re located, we have resources like our Employee Assistance Program and employee resource groups to support your mental health.

Compensation

We make compensation decisions based on an individual's experience, skills and education in line with our internal pay equity practices.

This role will also be eligible for a long-term incentive (LTI) award. Any bonuses awarded are based on individual and company performance paid at Hudl's discretion.

We offer resources to ensure our employees feel safe bringing their authentic selves to work, including employee resource groups and communities. But we recognize there’s ongoing work to be done, which is why we track our efforts and commitments in annual inclusion reports

We also know imposter syndrome is real and the confidence gap can get in the way of meeting spectacular candidates. Please don’t hesitate to apply—we’d love to hear from you.
