Technical Sales Trainee-- Chemicals

OPPORTUNITY
The primary purpose of this position is to provide technical service support for wastewater treatment, food, sugar, soda ash and other defoamer/polymer applications for new and existing business. This includes troubleshooting, problem solving and field testing of new products, application ideas and equipment. In addition, this individual will help support the corporate concept of total customer satisfaction as a way of life.
As a Technical Sales Trainee, primary responsibilities include:
- Maintain wastewater business at current accounts
- Help to close business where opportunities have been uncovered by sales reps
- Install and maintain feed systems such as metering pumps and polymer dilution systems
- Be proactive in identifying leads, qualifying them and closing opportunities that will enhance Hydrite’s long-term market viability
- Survey plants, utilize the various tools available to determine best-in-class solutions and offer unique chemical programs for our customers
- Effectively manage time and territory to maximize productive activities
- Write timely chemical treatment proposals and service reports
- Train customers on proper specialty chemical techniques and applications along with their importance for producing profitable paybacks to both organizations
- Provide direction and leadership - grow business within your account base
- Manage foam control and specialty programs proactively and consultatively
- Identify and facilitate corrective actions on-site immediately.
- Work closely with the Account Manager and Regional Sales Manager to meet annual goals and objectives.
- Build strong customer relationships from the production floor to the executive office.
REPORTING STRUCTURE
- This position reports to the Regional Sales Manager
EXPERIENCE AND EDUCATIONAL CRITERIA
- BS Degree in Engineering (Chemical preferred) and/or Business or other science-related field (chemistry, biochemistry, biology).
- Experience in the manufacturing industry or customer service role preferred.
- Mechanical aptitude.
- Experience with Microsoft Excel, Word and Powerpoint.
- Excellent interpersonal and communication skills (verbal and written).
- Valid driver’s license and excellent driving record (company car provided)
- Ability to write and speak proficiently
PHYSICAL REQUIREMENTS
- Ability to travel frequently with overnight stays as much as three nights per week.
- Driving and riding in auto or aircraft 2-5 hours at a time.
- Standing for extended periods of 3-4 hours.
- 12-16 hour workdays may be required as a result of travel / customer requirements.
- Ability to lift 25-40 pounds and carry for 10 feet.
- Ability to climb stairs, turn, twist, bend, stoop and reach.
