What you will be doing:

The Senior Infrastructure Engineer will join the Illumia Architecture team under the direction of the Sr. Staff Architect. This role shall be responsible for designing, building, and managing Illumia’s cloud infrastructure environment, ensuring robust security, compliance, and operational excellence. They will collaborate with IT security, Architecture, Compliance, and cross-functional teams to maintain and enhance our cloud systems, automate processes, and resolve infrastructure issues. In this role, as the Sr. Infrastructure Engineer, they shall be communicating weekly and working with various product development teams to ensure timely patching cadence and compliance levels

Job Summary / Purpose

This role owns the infrastructure deployment and architecture for Illumia products’ cloud infrastructure and services. In order to ensure all product teams comply with the infrastructure standards set forth by the Chief Architect, this role shall act in an advisory capacity, helping product teams understand and meet the requirements.

Who you will work with:

The Senior Infrastructure Engineer will primarily work with members of the Architecture and Platform engineering teams. As part of the larger architecture team this role will be required to communicate with product team members, report issues and working on modernization projects. As required, this role may also serve as the engineer in org-wide infrastructure and network security initiatives.

Key Responsibilities and Duties

  • Design, build, and manage the cloud infrastructure environment.
  • Ensure security and compliance of systems hosted in cloud environments.
  • Manage and maintain supporting cloud infrastructure systems
  • Handle and resolve infrastructure issues.
  • Collaborate with team members to develop/improve supporting cloud infrastructure systems
  • Collaborate with internal and external team members to ensure compliance with corporate security frameworks
  • Implement and automate security controls, governance processes, and compliance validation.
  • Utilize technology to automate tasks and reduce manual efforts.
  • Configure network security solutions to work optimally with various internal products
  • Troubleshoot cloud networking and security related issues

What You’ll Bring:

Required Qualifications

  • Bachelor's degree in computer science, information systems, information security or related field, or equivalent work experience.
  • 5+ years of experience with cloud service providers like AWS or Azure, with 3 of those years working in an infrastructure or networking engineer role.
  • Knowledge of cloud architecture specifically AWS and Azure
  • Knowledge of Networking concepts including firewalls and gateways
  • Skills:
    • Experience with scripting and programming languages such as Python, Bash, and Powershell
  • Experience with Infrastructure as Code (IaC) tools like Terraform or CloudFormation.
  • Experience with Azure and AWS cloud CLIs
  • Knowledge of network security platforms (e.g. Firewalls and WAFs)
  • Strong understanding of networking, security, and cloud computing principles (vNETs/VPC, routing, security groups, ACLs, etc.)
  • Understanding of cloud computing deployment models
  • Strong problem-solving skills and ability to manage complex systems
  • BSc degree in Computer Science, Engineering or relevant field
  • Familiarity with Linux and Windows operating systems
  • Familiarity with DevOps practices and CI/CD pipelines
  • Excellent problem-solving skills and attention to detail
  • Strong communication and collaboration skills

Preferred Qualifications

  • Experience with Infrastructure as code management in Azure and AWS
  • Strong background with demonstrable projects in networking and infrastructure management
