About the role:

At Industrious, our people are our most important asset, full stop. As our People Ops Manager, you’ll play a pivotal role in shaping our employee experience and culture while optimizing our People processes. It’s an exciting time to be joining Industrious as we were recently acquired by CBRE and are anticipating new opportunities and significant growth in the near and long term. You can read a little more about this news in a note from our co-founders.

You’ll join an agile People team that is focused on moving the world of HR away from administrative work and into an employee experience function. You’ll work on solving questions like: how do we lead the industry in creating an exemplary hybrid work model? How do we continue to nurture and develop our top talent into our leaders of tomorrow?

This role will be based in NYC, and will require at least 1 day in the office per week (Wednesdays).

The People Ops Manager role has the potential to touch many of the areas listed below. We know that you may not have extensive experience in all of these disciplines. We’re looking for someone with a strong foundation in HR practices, a willingness to learn, and the ability to grow with our organization. If you have experience in some of these areas and are eager to develop your skills in others, this role could be perfect for you.

  • Employee Experience Management: Design initiatives that enhance the employee journey from recruitment to offboarding, ensuring every team member feels valued and engaged throughout their career with us
  • Payroll and Benefits Oversight: Manage payroll operations and benefits administration ensuring compliance, accuracy and alignment with employee needs.
  • HRIS Optimization: You love finding new ways to enhance the functionality of an HRIS so it works better for us and our teams
  • Data-driven Decision Making: Comfortable analyzing data to make recommendations on how to improve the employee experience or measure the effectiveness of HR initiatives.
  • Compliance & Reporting: Ensure HR practices comply with legal requirements, stay up-to-date on employment laws, produce and analyze reports for leadership or other internal and external stakeholders
  • Compensation Strategy: Contribute to the development of competitive and fair compensation structures that attract, retain and reward our amazing talent
  • HR Process Improvement: Develop and implement efficient people processes and policies to support organizational goals
  • Values Champion: Be a role model for the People team and a champion of our values.

About you

  • You have at least 4-5 years of progressive HR experience; a bonus if you’ve done so within fast-growing organizations
  • You have strong working knowledge of HR best practices, employment laws and compliance requirements
  • You’ve had hands-on experience in compensation management, and payroll & benefits administration
  • You have experience with an HRIS (Workday preferred but not a dealbreaker)
  • You work collaboratively with cross-functional partners and easily establish rapport. No problem is too small to tackle; you’re always happy to be a thought partner.
  • You can multitask like a pro and manage multiple projects or priorities simultaneously
  • You’re highly analytical and a strong problem-solver. You enjoy looking at the human story within the numbers and recommending solutions to your manager.
  • You understand the importance of establishing clear policies but can see in shades of gray and come equipped with a knowledgeable and strong point of view about how things should be done from an HR perspective. You believe that the People team are partners, not police.
  • You avoid corporate gobbledygook.
  • You’re flexible and adaptable. You’re able to pivot easily and relish putting processes and policies in place. You take pride in seeing things through from start to finish. You’re a self-starter who isn't afraid to dive in but knows when to ask for help from your teammates.
  • Strong creative skillset; ability to create polished collateral
