Finance Systems & Automation Analyst

Austin, in-person

About inKind

inKind is transforming restaurant financing and customer engagement through an innovative fintech platform that provides restaurants with growth capital while helping consumers discover and enjoy dining experiences nationwide.

As inKind continues to scale, our Finance organization is increasingly powered by technology, automation, and interconnected data. We’re looking for a Finance Systems & Automation Analyst who can help operate, troubleshoot, and improve the systems and workflows behind our accounting and financial processes.

Position Summary

This is not a traditional accounting role, and we are not looking for a software engineer.

We are looking for a systems-oriented problem solver who is naturally good at understanding how things work, breaking complicated processes into logical steps, working with financial data, and figuring out what is happening when something doesn’t work as expected.

You will sit at the intersection of Finance, Accounting, Data, and Technology, helping operate and improve the automated workflows that support our financial infrastructure.

A significant portion of the role will involve working in NetSuite, alongside tools such as Google Sheets, SQL, internal data sources, integrations, and third-party platforms.

You do not need to be an expert programmer. You do need to be comfortable looking at an unfamiliar process, dataset, formula, query, or piece of logic and methodically figuring out how it works.

The ideal person has strong numerical intuition, exceptional attention to detail, and the curiosity to ask not only “Is this number correct?” but also “Where did this number come from, how did it get here, and how could we make this process better?”

What You Will Do

Finance & Accounting Operations

  • Operate and maintain recurring accounting and finance workflows, including cash transaction categorization, journal entry preparation and uploads, reconciliations, and weekly/monthly reporting processes.
  • Work extensively within NetSuite to support accounting operations, investigate issues, manage imports, and maintain accurate financial information.
  • Manage the inputs and outputs of automated finance processes, including data validation, CSV preparation and uploads, exception handling, and transaction-level corrections.
  • Adapt established processes to accommodate one-off transactions, new business scenarios, and evolving Finance requirements.
  • Support weekly and monthly accounting close activities and maintain the automated workflows supporting those processes.

Systems, Data & Automation

  • Monitor automated financial data flows from source systems through accounting, forecasting, and reporting outputs.
  • Ensure the continued availability, completeness, and accuracy of transaction history, balances, forecasts, and other financial information used across the organization.
  • Build, maintain, and troubleshoot automated financial workflows across accounting systems, internal data sources, and third-party platforms.
  • Investigate issues across Google Sheets logic, SQL queries, CSV imports, integrations, NetSuite, and other financial systems.
  • Trace data through multiple systems to identify where errors or inconsistencies originate.
  • Independently resolve routine systems and data issues while identifying the source, scope, and appropriate escalation path for more complex problems.

Process Improvement & Problem Solving

  • Break complex financial processes into clear, logical steps and identify opportunities to simplify or automate them.
  • Understand existing formulas, queries, scripts, integrations, and workflows well enough to troubleshoot and improve them.
  • Identify repetitive manual processes that could be standardized, automated, or eliminated.
  • Support the implementation of new products, systems, and business processes as they interact with Accounting and Finance.
  • Create ad-hoc reporting, tools, and analyses to answer new business questions.
  • Partner across Finance, Accounting, Product, Engineering, Data, and other teams to translate business requirements into practical solutions.
  • Document processes and workflows so that systems remain understandable, scalable, and maintainable as the company grows.

What We Are Looking For

  • Strong systems thinking — you naturally break problems into inputs, rules, dependencies, outputs, and exceptions.
  • Strong numerical intuition and an ability to recognize when financial data does not make sense.
  • Comfort working with large datasets and identifying patterns, anomalies, and inconsistencies.
  • Ability to approach ambiguous problems with limited context and determine what questions need to be answered first.
  • Strong attention to detail without losing sight of the broader process or business objective.
  • Comfort learning unfamiliar systems, tools, formulas, and technical concepts independently.
  • Ability to read and reason through existing formulas, queries, or code even if you would not consider yourself a developer.
  • Ability to troubleshoot systematically rather than relying on trial and error.
  • Strong communication skills and the ability to explain technical or financial processes in straightforward terms.

Tools & Technical Experience

Experience with some combination of the following is valuable:

  • NetSuite or another ERP/accounting platform
  • Advanced Google Sheets or Excel
  • SQL and relational data
  • Large structured datasets
  • Financial reporting and reconciliation
  • APIs, integrations, or third-party data connectors
  • Automated workflows or low-code automation tools
  • Financial or accounting data structures

Deep expertise in every tool is not required. We care more about your ability to understand unfamiliar systems, reason through problems, and learn quickly than expertise in a particular programming language.

Salary:

  • $80,000 - $90,000 DOE + Benefits
