About Us

At 1weather, we are building the next generation of intelligent weather and context-aware platforms. We combine cutting-edge meteorology, AI, and user experience design to not only forecast the weather but also help people live better, safer, and more planned lives. Our mission is to make weather insights personal, contextual, and actionable.

Role Overview

We are seeking a APM Meteorologist with strong technical aptitude and user-behaviour orientation to join our product and research team. This role sits at the intersection of atmospheric science, data-driven product design, and user psychology. You will interpret meteorological data, work closely with AI engineers, UX designers, data analysts and shape how millions of users interact with weather-driven experiences.

Key Responsibilities

  • Weather Science & Modelling
  • Analyse and interpret meteorological datasets, radar, satellite imagery, and numerical weather models.
  • Collaborate with data scientists/ML engineers to improve forecast accuracy and explainability.
  • Provide expert input into severe weather alerts, risk indices, and long-range outlooks.
  • Technical Collaboration
  • Work with AI/ML teams to translate meteorological logic into algorithms and user-facing insights.
  • Support feature development such as confidence scores, activity recommendations, and predictive alerts.
  • Ensure technical integrity and scientific rigor in all weather-driven outputs.
  • User Behavior & Experience
  • Research how users interpret and act on weather information.
  • Translate forecasts into clear, actionable, and empathetic communication.
  • Co-design features (outfit suggestions, safety nudges, daily routines) that drive user engagement.

What We’re Looking For

  • Background
  • Degree in Meteorology, Atmospheric Science, or related field.
  • Great understanding of US local culture
  • Prior experience in forecasting, broadcast meteorology, or applied meteorological research.
  • Skills
  • Strong technical bent: familiar with weather APIs, modelling systems (e.g., WRF, GFS, ECMWF), and/or data visualization.
  • Understanding of AI/ML concepts and comfort working with engineers.
  • Awareness of human behaviour, risk communication, and UX principles.
  • Mindset
  • Curious, adaptive, and able to balance scientific accuracy with user-friendly communication.
  • Comfortable bridging the gap between hard science and user impact.
  • Entrepreneurial drive and passion for building new-age weather + AI products.

Why Join Us

  • Shape the future of weather intelligence with AI.
  • Work in a fast-growing startup environment with global ambitions.
  • Collaborate with top-tier engineers, designers, and product leaders.
  • Have a direct impact on how millions of users plan their day, travel safely, and live better lives.
