The Role: Inbound & Export Logistics Lead 

Availability: Full-time with an ability to work mornings, afternoons, overnights, holidays, and occasional weekends. 

Reporting to the Logistics Manager, the Inbound & Export Logistics Lead will oversee inbound and export logistical requirements, ensuring service requirements are met while optimizing costs. This role requires a self-driven individual with great communication and organizational skills who can deliver high-level service to customers through proactive communication, staff development, and direction. The ideal candidate will have a clear understanding of business-critical functions and priorities and confidently discuss deadlines, finances, and delivery expectations. They will drive operational excellence, identify process improvements, and ensure quality and value delivery.

What you do (Responsibilities):

  • Strategically plan and manage inbound logistics, LUSH 3PL warehouse storage, interfactory transportation, and LUSH North American exports
  • Foster positive relationships and communication with key stakeholders, including suppliers, transportation providers, the Buying team, the Procurement team, Manufacturing, and other LUSH business units to ensure smooth logistics operations, drive collaboration, and achieve shared goals.
  • Establish inbound transportation SOPs to ensure shipments are compliant with transportation regulations
  • Assist in planning and executing export logistics operations, including freight forwarding and customs clearance
  • Develop, propose, and align on fiscal portfolio strategy with stakeholders and achieve the financial and operational commitments for the fiscal year.
  • Keep track of quality, delivery times, transport costs, and efficiency
  • Confirm that transportation services are executed according to contract standards
  • Provide meaningful commentary to customers and stakeholders relating to transportation results
  • Critically assess business requirements against industry best practices to propose new KPIs to stakeholders.
  • Participate in contract negotiations and the new carrier selection process to improve service performance
  • Liaise and negotiate with suppliers, manufacturers, vendors, and the Procurement team
  • Identify opportunities for process improvements and implement changes to increase efficiency, reduce costs, and enhance customer satisfaction
  • Execute and implement assigned projects and initiatives
  • Ensure issues are raised in good time, working with peers to supply solutions to manage risk 
  • Take initiative to provide solution oriented communication with all team members, freight forwarders, and internal stakeholders with the goal of mitigating risk and creating optimal end user customer experience
  • Provide direction, support, feedback, development, and performance management to staff including supervision, coaching and training the logistics workforce
  • Develop and promote a positive working culture that supports the Company’s philosophy of inclusion and is based on open and honest dialogue and involvement of all Team Members, that values their input and engagement in improving performance.
  • Maintain electronic data management and filing of job records and other documentation as required
  • Provide recommendations to Buying & Procurement on inbound freight consolidation, freight optimization & cost efficiency opportunities considering internal warehouse storage capacity
  • Identify the potential inbound logistics constraints, develop contingency plans and proactively communicate to Buying & Procurement

Who you are (Qualifications):

Required:

  • Current Lush employee
  • At least 2 years of direct experience working in Logistics, Procurement and/or Distribution either at Lush or externally
  • Must be a current MIT or Manager and have held the role for minimum one year (cumulative Seasonal or Core)
  • Demonstrated ability to be proactive and resourceful when dealing with issues and challenges
  • Demonstrated ability to work collaboratively and communicate effectively with others at all levels within the organization
  • Demonstrated ability to operate in a fast-paced, high-pressure, and dynamic environment, and the ability to adapt and change
  • Excellent analytical, critical thinking, and troubleshooting skills
  • Excellent oral and written communication skills
  • Self-directed and driven to achieve desired results
  • Service-oriented with keen attention to detail and diligent on follow-up
  • Proficient with MS Office and Google Suite
  • Respect for your working environment and those around you
  • Ability to travel domestically or or International travel as required

Preferred:

  • A minimum of 2 years of direct experience in freight/transportation and procurement
  • Strong understanding of transportation metrics and their role in supporting supply chain objectives
  • Completed or in progress College diploma or University degree in Business, Logistics, and/or Supply Chain OR experience in Cross-functional warehousing, procurement, distribution, and/or supply chain/freight 
  • Transportation of Dangerous Goods certified 
  • Knowledgeable in transportation laws and regulations
  • Experience with all modes of transportation
