Finance Controller

Responsibilities

· Managing accounting for the German and Swiss branches in accordance with the company’s Code of Practice

· Implementing and maintaining internal control procedures relating to all finance-related matters within the German and Swiss branches

· Tracking monthly results with the respective department heads

· Providing information to tax advisors so that all compliance-related questions can be resolved in a timely manner

· Minimizing duplication of work and achieving savings without compromising the meaningfulness of the information produced

Duties

The following list of duties is intended as general guidance for this position. Specific priorities, timelines, and quality standards will be determined in coordination with the Head of Finance and will depend on the professional qualifications and experience of the role holder.

· Preparing the monthly profit and loss statement and balance sheet

· Supporting management in reviewing results, answering questions, and providing further analysis where required

· Determining and monitoring cash flow, including reconciling movements in bank accounts and ensuring that surpluses are handled in accordance with InterSystems policies and procedures

· Controlling all local purchase and nominal ledgers, the payroll journal, and bank reconciliations

· Ensuring the correct and timely processing of monthly payroll for employees in Germany and Switzerland

· Reviewing all expense claims to ensure that policies are followed, correct receipts are provided, and VAT and other tax requirements are met

· Maintaining monthly income and expense forecasts and annual budgets

· Preparing information requested by tax advisors

· Calculating and preparing commission statements for sales staff

· Monitoring accounts receivable and actively following up with customers on overdue receivables

· Reviewing systems and procedures where appropriate and submitting improvement proposals to the Head of Finance

· Preparing spreadsheets and reports and taking on ad hoc tasks that may be requested by the European Head of Finance

Qualifications

· Confident written and spoken communication in German and English is required

· Experience working with multi-currency systems is an advantage

· A qualification as a certified accountant or similar qualification is desirable

· Experience using AI-supported features in ERP or finance platforms such as Workday, Microsoft Copilot, or similar automation tools is an advantage

· Interest in using AI and automation to increase efficiency, reduce manual work steps, and improve reporting accuracy

· Understanding of data protection, confidentiality, and governance aspects when using AI-supported finance tools

Communication

The role holder communicates with a wide range of internal and external contacts and institutions, including:

· Daily: members of the finance department and internal InterSystems employees

· Regularly: consultants and external accountants

· Banks and other professional advisors
