What will you do?


We are looking for an experienced Data Engineer to help build the foundation of our intelligence capability. This exciting project will enable teams across the company to access reliable, consistent data for better decision-making.
You'll work with modern tools and platforms to create robust, scalable data pipelines & models using Google Cloud and Google BigQuery. You will partner with various types of stakeholders to turn data into actionable insights.

Your main responsibilities will include:

  • Data Warehouse Management:
    • Design, develop, and maintain our data warehouse architecture in Google BigQuery.
    • Implement and optimize data pipelines for efficient data ingestion, transformation, and loading (ETL/ELT).
    • Monitor data warehouse performance and troubleshoot issues.
    • Ensure data quality, consistency, and integrity.
    • Manage data security and access controls.

  • GCP Infrastructure:
    • Utilize various GCP services (e.g. Cloud Storage, Cloud Functions, Dataflow, Pub/Sub) to build and maintain data infrastructure.
    • Automate infrastructure deployment and management using Infrastructure-as-Code (IaC) tools (e.g. Terraform).
    • Optimize GCP resource utilization and costs.
    • Implement and maintain monitoring and alerting systems for GCP services.

  • Data Modeling and Optimization:
    • Design and implement efficient data models for analytical and reporting purposes.
    • Optimize query performance and data storage.
    • Implement data partitioning, clustering, and indexing strategies.

  • Collaboration and Communication:
    • Collaborate with data analysts, data scientists, and business stakeholders to understand data requirements.  
    • Document data processes, data models, and technical specifications.
    • Communicate technical concepts effectively to both technical and non-technical audiences.
    • Participate in code reviews and contribute to team best practices. 

  • Continuous Improvement:
    • Stay up-to-date with the latest BigQuery and GCP technologies and best practices.
    • Identify and implement opportunities for process and performance improvements.
    • Contribute to the development of data engineering standards and guidelines.

Who are you?

  • Bachelor's degree in Computer Science, Information Systems, or a related field.
  • Proven experience as a Data Engineer, with a focus on data warehousing and ETL/ELT.  
  • Strong proficiency in Google BigQuery, GCP services,SQL and data modeling.
  • Experience with scripting languages (e.g. Python, TypeScript, …).
  • Understanding of data warehousing concepts and best practices.
  • Experience with version control systems like Git.
  • Experience with Infrastructure-as-Code (IaC) tools (e.g., Terraform).
  • Experience with data orchestration tools (e.g. Apache Airflow, Cloud Composer).
  • Experience with stream processing (e.g. Dataflow, Pub/Sub).
  • Experience with data visualization tools (e.g. Looker Studio, Tableau).
  • Knowledge of data governance and security best practices.
  • Experience with CI/CD pipelines.
  • Google Cloud Professional Data Engineer certification.

  • You'll join us as a freelancer with a flexible arrangement that adapts to project phases and your availability. Kickstarting in an 80% regime, but with approx overall capacity need of 50% until end of 2025
