Position Title: Head of Commercial Operations

Position summary:

In this newly created position at Invivyd, and reporting into our Chief Commercial Officer, you will be at the helm of our commercial operations, leading the development of processes, and systems, striving for operational excellence across multiple facets of the organization. Your leadership will be pivotal in enhancing efficiency and aligning the commercial data with finance, to ensure business goals. You will work cross-functionally ensuring our operations are seamless and productive creating one source of truth for the organization. This role is responsible for building and leading the Commercial Operations function to ensure the Commercial organization has the right infrastructure (processes, actionable insights, tools, training, resources, data, and technology) required to succeed. This role oversees and delivers business-critical operational initiatives, process improvement, and cross-functional integrations. This role collaborates across the Commercial Team to optimize infrastructure, analytics, workflows, resource management, effectiveness, and productivity.

Responsibilities include, but are not limited to, the following:  

  • Serve as a member of Commercial Leadership Team and contribute to the development and execution of commercial, operational, and organizational strategies and plans across Access, Sales, Marketing and Finance as the one source of truth informing the ELT, CLT and prepare for earnings
  • Oversee field effectiveness and enablement operations including territory planning, sales performance tracking and analytics, incentive programming, development and delivery of customer engagement and sales enablement tools
  • Partner with CLT Team in developing and implementing sales plans, including territory assignments, quotas, and performance metrics to drive growth
  • Lead Commercial Analytics & Insights for Pemgarda PrEP and indication planning for future molecules and indications
  • Oversee commercial training and development programs including sales training platforms supporting each franchise training needs for new hires and ongoing development programs
  • Lead the relationship and deliverables of IQVIA partnership
  • Integrate data from Access (Prospectus, contracting, IQVIA) Marketing, Field Teams RCS/ KAM (Iqvia) to ensure a nimble and proactive response to market dynamics in real time
  • Utilize technology and tools to implement and manage sales enablement tools, technology systems, and CRM platforms to support our sales teams.
  • Integrate external data sources to build 360 analytic capabilities, providing actionable insights through data analysis and reporting to guide Invivyds market  decisions
  • Foster a culture of collaboration, accountability, and continuous improvement within the Commercial Operations function and across the organization
  • Lead the development and integration of commercial insights and analytics to monitor brand performance, support business strategy and improve customer experience
  • Collaborate and partner with senior leaders including Marketing, Market Access, Sales, Regulatory, Compliance, and Finance to support the achievement of strategies, key objectives and business needs in a compliant way
  • Define an insights generation plan integrating all available data sources to determine opportunities across the business and to anticipate brand and market challenges
  • Champion the evolution of data practices, ensuring they support scalable, efficient, and effective data management and analysis. Establish and enforce high standards for data quality, governance, and security
  • Develop and maintain key performance indicators (KPIs) and dashboards to monitor and communicate commercial operations performance to senior leadership
  • Partner with the commercial organization to translate distribution analytics and insights into revenue-producing strategies and tactics
  • Play a key role in preparation of and during the Quarterly Business Reviews
  • Lead quantitative and qualitative market research projects to support brand strategy, vendor selection, execution and presentation
  • Work closely with both Commercial and Finance leadership to build, analyze, and communicate accurate short-term and long-range demand and revenue forecasts
  • Lead continual improvement of data, data environment, and associated reporting that will keep the trust of the organization
  • Display a high degree of creativity and innovation in problem-solving, proactively developing new approaches, processes, and methodologies to maintain consistent and reliable commercial operations

Requirements: 

  • Bachelor’s degree or equivalent experience in Statistics, Economics, Engineering, Analytics, Information Systems, or a related subject area
  • A minimum of 15 years of combined relevant business experience in commercial analytics, pharmaceutical analytics, and/or management consulting
  • A minimum of 10 years leading a Commercial Analytics/Operations function, preferably within a small, life sciences company
  • Strong leadership abilities with experience in talent development and building high-performing teams
  • Excellent analytical skills with strong business intelligence, strategic management, and planning capabilities
  • Ability to communicate and present effectively to multiple levels within the organization, including executive leadership
  • Strong change management skills, capable of executing swiftly and effectively in a fast-paced environment.
  • Excellent working knowledge in defining data management capabilities and creating infrastructure and guidance for data governance.
  • Experience with field force analytics, including customer segmentation, targeting, and promotional response measurements.
  • Strong knowledge of secondary data sources including syndicated sales, promotional & marketing data, longitudinal patient level data, EMR, payer data, and pharmacy / trade data.
  • Deep experience in building forecasting models
  • Analytical skills: SQL, R, SAS, or Python, Microsoft Excel
  • Data visualization skills: PowerBI, Microsoft PowerPoint
  • Strong background in commercial strategy with experience in building detailed commercial forecasts to support key decision making. Experience leading primary and secondary market research partnering with Head of marketing and Access on projects with relatively limited oversight
  • Experience in preparing for and launching a product, developing and continually refining a commercial strategy to take advantage of evolving market opportunities and competitive landscapes
  • Demonstrated ability to assess market opportunities, develop product strategies, and evaluate forecasts
  • Demonstrated success in maximizing growth of a product portfolio and optimizing the potential of pipeline products and new indications.
  • Experience with detailed financial analysis and presenting complex information.
  • Strong leadership, collaboration, relationship building, and interpersonal skills.
