MLJ Contracting is seeking a Safety Manager to support the rehabilitation of the Northbound Gold Star Bridge in New London, Connecticut. This high-profile infrastructure project involves complex steel reinforcement and repairs, deck replacement, and additional structural improvements to one of the region’s most critical transportation corridors.

The Safety Manager is an expert in the areas of safety procedure and techniques providing a minimum-risk environment for all employees working at construction sites. The Safety Manager promotes a safety culture on the project, educates staff, and enforces rules and regulations throughout the project. 
                    
II.  EDUCATION/CERTIFICATIONS 

•    Completion of OSHA 30 Construction Safety and Health (29 CFR 1926) Course.
•    Active member of American Society of Safety Engineers (ASSE).
            
III.  KEY RESPONSIBILITIES

•    Responsible for the management of all safety and security matters.
•    Develop safe work plans.
•    Maintain safety records and reports.
•    Prepare incident reports if required.
•    Hold a safety walk-through on a monthly basis for the project manager, CSE, engineer, anyone deemed appropriate.
•    Conduct safety meetings at least every two weeks attended by all employees of the contractor and subcontractors
•    Maintain a daily Site Safety Log for all project safety and security matters.
•    Perform other duties as assigned.

VI.  QUALIFICATIONS OF THE POSITION

•    Experience on at least one comparable Bridge project is required.
•    Strong oral and written communication required.
•    Ability to work well in a team setting and communicate effectively
•    Working knowledge of safety/environmental principles and techniques.
•    Capable of identifying known/potential exposures and recommending corrective actions.

$140,000 - $190,000 USD
