Metrology Technician
Position Summary:
We are seeking a Metrology Technician for our R&D manufacturing operations. This role will support in-house nanofabrication by testing components for key performance metrics. The Metrology Technician will work cross-functionally with the entire engineering team to ensure that fabricated components are characterized and metrology systems are well-maintained.
Key Responsibilities:
- Perform surface, profile, and volumetric measurements using a range of optical metrology tools (e.g., interferometry, scatterometry, microscopy, profilometry).
- Evaluate performance of optical components (e.g. focal length, PSF, wavefront)
- Run custom tools in our metrology lab, and act as the point-person for testing fabricated optical components
- Perform routine maintenance and alignment for optical measurement tools
- Qualify new metrology tools and processes
- Maintain detailed records of measurement methods, calibration procedures, and results.
Optional Responsibilities:
- Aid in the development of custom in-house optical metrology equipment
- Run data analysis and reporting across various R&D projects
- Perform additional materials and failure analysis metrology, in house or at external facilities (e.g. SEM, AFM, spectroscopy)
Qualifications:
- Experience in optical metrology, precision measurement or related disciplines.
- Hands-on experience with metrology equipment setup, calibration, and troubleshooting.
- Experience working with delicate components in a laboratory or R&D environment.
- Experience running scripts on the command-line, and interfacing with a variety of data formats such as spreadsheets, JSON files, HDF5 files, and images.
- Familiarity with experimental design or measurement system analysis techniques (e.g. gauge R&R) is a plus.
- Familiarity with optical measurement principles such as interferometry, microscopy, surface profilometry is a plus.
Compensation and Benefits
The salary range for this role is $70,000-$100,000 and includes equity. We are committed to equitable compensation across our company.
