Project Manager III
itD is seeking a Project Manager III to lead and advance cutting-edge research initiatives within Reality Labs Research (RLR) Audio. This role will drive end-to-end project planning and execution for breakthrough AR/VR audio technologies that redefine how people hear and connect in acoustically challenging environments. The ideal candidate brings strong project leadership experience within research or technical product development environments and a proven ability to manage complex, cross-functional workstreams with clarity and precision.
Location: Onsite – Redmond, WA (Building X)
Schedule: 5 days per week onsite
Duration: 6-month contract
Hours: 40 hours per week
Travel: Local travel to Redmond offices; occasional travel to California to support demos
Pay Rate: [$60–$68 per hour], depending on experience.

About the Team
Reality Labs Research (RLR) brings together world-class researchers, developers, and engineers to build the future of augmented and virtual reality. The RLR Audio team focuses on redefining human communication through advanced audio technologies, spanning signal processing, machine learning, perception science, and immersive interaction systems.
Responsibilities
- Lead project planning, execution, and delivery for scientific research and feature development initiatives.
- Drive prioritization across multiple technical workstreams, ensuring alignment with medium-term goals (up to 3 months).
- Identify project risks early and implement mitigation strategies to maintain timelines and quality standards.
- Communicate project status, priorities, dependencies, and risks clearly to cross-functional stakeholders.
- Manage and track tasks in close collaboration with technical leads, ensuring progress is documented and milestones are met.
- Oversee procurement of equipment and vendor services required to support research efforts.
- Support operational and non-research initiatives as needed to ensure program success.
Internal Responsibilities
- Attend regular internal practice community meetings.
- Collaborate with your itD practice team on industry thought leadership.
- Complete client case studies and learning materials (blogs, media material).
- Build out material to contribute to the Digital Transformation practice.
- Attend internal itD networking events (in person and virtual).
- Work with leadership on career fast-track opportunities.
Required Qualifications and Skills
- 3+ years of project management experience in research or product development environments
- Demonstrated expertise in project planning, execution, and delivery
- Proven ability to rapidly prioritize and organize medium-term goals (up to 3 months)
- Strong risk assessment and mitigation experience
- Experience managing and tracking cross-functional technical workstreams
- Excellent written and verbal communication skills
- Strong organizational and time management skills
- Ability to work onsite 5 days per week in Redmond, WA
- PMP certification or equivalent project management certification
Preferred Qualifications and Skills
- Experience working in AR/VR, audio technologies, or immersive systems
- Background in audio signal processing, machine learning, or computer vision
- Familiarity with Agile methodologies
- End-to-end software project management experience
- Technical background enabling effective collaboration with engineering and research teams
Education
Bachelor’s degree in a relevant field or equivalent work experience required.
