How you will make an impact:

As a Senior Engineer on the Developer Platform Team, your impact is measured by the velocity, safety, and joy with which our engineers ship code. You will play a pivotal role in evolving our build ecosystems and pioneering the use of AI in developer workflows, ensuring that our infrastructure scales ahead of our headcount.

  • Master the Build Ecosystem (Bazel): You will help lead the design and optimization of our build systems, with a primary focus on Bazel. You will architect hermetic, reproducible builds, manage remote caching/execution strategies, and write custom Starlark rules to accelerate our Scala and JVM-based microservices.
  • Pioneer AI-Driven Development: You will go beyond using AI tools, you will build the systems that power them. You will design and implement agentic workflows and integrate LLM capabilities into our platform to automate complex development tasks, reduce toil, and enhance developer productivity using tools like Cursor and Claude Code.
  • Architect Kubernetes-Native Tooling: You will build and maintain the "paved road" for service delivery on Kubernetes. Leveraging ArgoCD and GitOps principles, you will create tooling that abstracts infrastructure complexity and enables seamless self-service deployments.
  • Elevate the JVM Experience: You will maintain and evolve core libraries and frameworks for our backend services, ensuring a robust, standardized foundation for product teams working in Scala.
  • Cultivate Engineering Excellence: You will partner with service owners to help them adopt and take full advantage of our Internal Developer Platform (Built on top of Backstage, ArgoCD, and other tools), and foster a culture of "Quality by Design" through advanced testing infrastructure and feedback loops.
  • Platform as a Product Mindset: You will be a critical member of the product team, engaging with feature teams to understand their needs and help inform the product roadmap. You will identify pain points and opportunities for improvement.

What we’re looking for

We prioritize demonstrated proficiency and the ability to solve complex problems over years of experience.

Build & Language Mastery

  • Bazel Expertise: Deep production experience with Bazel. You understand the build graph, have written custom rules/macros, and know how to tune remote caching and execution for speed and scale.
  • JVM Deep Dive: You have a deep understanding of the JVM ecosystem (Scala preferred, or Java/Kotlin) from a build and runtime perspective. You are comfortable navigating complex dependency graphs and architecting build solutions for large-scale codebases.
  • Polyglot Tooling: Ability to write and maintain platform tooling in Python, Go, or TypeScript. While your primary focus may be the JVM build, you are comfortable context-switching to build CLIs, scripts, and internal portals in other languages.

Cloud Native & Platform Engineering

  • Kubernetes & GitOps: Proven ability to work in a Kubernetes-native environment. You are expert in Docker containerization and managing deployments using ArgoCD and GitOps patterns.
  • Infrastructure as Code: Familiarity with defining infrastructure and environments using tools like Terraform or Crossplane.
  • CI/CD Expertise: Deep production experience with modern orchestration tools (GitHub Actions, GitLab CI, Argo Workflows, CircleCI, etc.). You know how to tune these systems for thousands of daily executions.

AI & Innovation

  • AI-Native Mindset: You are a power user of AI coding tools (e.g., Cursor, Claude Code) and have a vision for how they change software development.
  • Agentic Systems: Experience or a strong drive to build agentic systems and automations on top of LLMs to solve developer productivity challenges (e.g., automated code reviews, intelligent scaffolding, error triage bots).

Leadership & Collaboration

  • Consultative Approach: Ability to influence engineering culture by mentoring peers and partnering with service owners to improve their delivery performance.
  • Developer-Centric: A passion for removing "papercuts" in the developer workflow and a bias toward systemic, self-service solutions.

Perks & Benefits:

  • Competitive salaries & meaningful equity
  • Private Medical Insurance
  • Life/Risk Assurance
  • Meal Allowance: 8.55€ per day
  • Balance Days (additional paid holidays)
  • Paid Annual Leave (22 days)
  • Public Holidays (13 days)
  • Paid Sabbatical
  • Complete laptop workstation
