WHAT YOU WILL DO

We’re seeking a Principal Cloud Engineer to guide the architecture, strategy, and development of multi-cloud infrastructure for one of our enterprise clients in the retail sector. This position requires a forward-thinking technical expert who can drive innovation, provide leadership across cloud engineering teams, and serve as a critical link between technology execution and business vision.

You’ll play a central role in designing scalable platforms, shaping cloud automation practices, and mentoring engineers while contributing hands-on to strategic initiatives. The successful candidate will bring deep technical experience, a consultative mindset, and a passion for building cloud systems that are resilient, secure, and future-ready.

KEY RESPONSIBILITIES

  • Set and lead multi-cloud strategy aligned with enterprise goals, guiding design and platform decisions across Azure, GCP, and AWS environments.

  • Architect and build scalable, secure cloud infrastructure using modern practices and Infrastructure as Code (IaC) tools such as Terraform, Git, and Azure DevOps.

  • Mentor and support engineering teams, fostering technical excellence, peer learning, and architecture review.

  • Collaborate cross-functionally with platform, security, compliance, and architecture teams to ensure scalable, policy-aligned cloud adoption.

  • Drive automation and performance improvements across CI/CD pipelines, observability, and operational tooling for hybrid and cloud-native environments.

ABOUT YOU

Your values:

    • Integrity: You believe in doing the right thing, even when it's uncomfortable, seemingly inefficient, or costly.
    • Purposefulness: You have a desire to serve others with your skillset and an openness to continuous learning and growth.
    • Ownership: You stick to your commitments, follow up with action, and seek clarity in communication & expectations.

Your Experience:

    • 15+ years of experience working in complex IT environments, with deep involvement in cloud architecture and engineering.

    • 5+ years in a senior technical leadership role with a demonstrated ability to influence cross-functional teams.

    • Advanced expertise in cloud platforms including Azure, GCP, and/or AWS, particularly in infrastructure design and automation.

    • Hands-on experience with Infrastructure as Code and automation tools such as Terraform, Git, and Azure DevOps.

    • Proficient in one or more modern programming languages such as Go, C#, or Java for cloud-native application support.

    • Deep knowledge of cloud networking, identity, and security models, especially in regulated or high-compliance environments.

    • Comfortable leading strategic conversations while also contributing technically to project outcomes.

WE'D LOVE IT IF YOU HAVE:

    • Bachelor’s or Master’s degree in Computer Science, Engineering, or a related technical discipline.

    • Industry-recognized certifications in cloud architecture or DevOps practices.

    • Background working in high-volume, distributed environments such as retail, supply chain, ecommerce, or manufacturing.

    • Familiarity with data visualization and operational intelligence tools like Tableau or Power BI.

WHAT WE OFFER:

  • Competitive compensation with opportunities for additional incentives. The annual salary range for this role is $180,000-210,000.
  • Work/life balance – we know there’s more to life than work! We encourage our team to pursue other passions, get outside, and spend time with family. We work with clients and consultants to set expectations for a manageable workload.
