Join a Team Built to Last

Founded in 1946, Kimball Equipment Company has grown into one of North America's leading aggregate equipment providers. Today, we operate 15 locations across the western United States, providing equipment, parts, service, and support to customers throughout the aggregate, mining, construction, and heavy equipment industries. As we've grown, we've remained committed to serving customers well, supporting our employees, and continuously improving the way we do business.

As our company continues to grow, warehouse operations have become increasingly important to our success. We believe a well-run warehouse is not simply a support function. It is an essential part of a successful equipment dealership. To support that growth, we are creating a new Corporate Warehouse Operations Manager position.

Historically, many warehouse-related responsibilities have been shared between local leadership and our Director of Operations. Our continued growth has created an opportunity for someone whose primary focus is helping our warehouse teams, systems, and processes reach the next level. Warehouse operations have become too important and too complex to manage without dedicated leadership focused on supporting continuous improvement across the organization.

This position is not about running warehouses from a corporate office. It is about helping our warehouses and the people who work in them become more successful.

Just as importantly, we want to elevate the importance of the employees who perform this work every day. We are looking for an experienced warehouse leader who can establish standards, improve processes, develop employees, create accountability, and help each location operate at a consistently high level. The goal is not to create unnecessary bureaucracy. The goal is to provide leadership, support, and practical solutions that make our employees more successful and our operations more effective.

Position Summary

The Corporate Warehouse Operations Manager will provide leadership, training, standards, and operational support for warehouse functions across all Kimball Equipment locations. This individual will work closely with the Director of Operations, General Managers, Parts Managers, warehouse leaders, and warehouse employees to develop best practices while recognizing that each location has unique operational requirements.

The successful candidate will understand warehouse operations firsthand, enjoy developing people, identify opportunities for improvement, and influence positive change across multiple locations without creating unnecessary bureaucracy. They will be comfortable working alongside employees on the warehouse floor, supporting local leadership teams, and helping create systems and processes that improve performance.

As Kimball Equipment implements Microsoft Dynamics 365 Business Central, this position will also play an important role in helping ensure warehouse processes and ERP functionality work together effectively. Experience with Business Central, or participation in a major ERP implementation within warehouse, distribution, or supply chain operations, would be a significant advantage.

Key Responsibilities

Warehouse Operations & Inventory Management

  • Develop and maintain company-wide standards for inventory control and warehouse accuracy.
    • Establish effective cycle-counting programs and help locations improve inventory performance.
    • Investigate inventory discrepancies, identify root causes, and implement corrective actions.
    • Develop best practices for receiving, inspecting, staging, storing, picking, packing, and shipping inventory.
    • Improve consistency while reducing freight errors, damaged inventory, lost inventory, and unnecessary handling.
    • Establish expectations for warehouse organization, cleanliness, labeling, storage systems, staging areas, traffic flow, and general housekeeping.

Leadership & Employee Development

  • Develop warehouse employees and leaders through coaching, mentoring, training, and clear expectations.
    • Help define measurable standards for warehouse performance and accountability.
    • Create opportunities for employees to improve their skills and advance within the company.
    • Build strong partnerships with local leadership teams throughout the organization.
    • Recognize strong performance while providing support and accountability where improvement is needed.

Continuous Improvement & Standardization

  • Evaluate warehouse processes across the company and identify opportunities to improve efficiency, productivity, organization, and accuracy.
    • Establish practical standards and best practices that can be measured, taught, and maintained.
    • Promote consistency where it creates value while allowing appropriate flexibility for differences in location size, staffing, market conditions, and customer requirements.
    • Help locations solve operational challenges through practical, sustainable solutions rather than unnecessary complexity.

ERP Implementation & Systems Support

  • Represent warehouse operations during the implementation and ongoing development of Microsoft Dynamics 365 Business Central.
    • Help ensure system processes effectively support receiving, inventory movement, transfers, shipping, cycle counting, and inventory control.
    • Work with internal teams and implementation partners to identify process gaps, test workflows, train employees, and support adoption across locations.

Safety, Accountability & Multi-Location Support

  • Help establish and maintain warehouse safety standards throughout the company.
    • Partner with local leadership to identify hazards and improve material-handling practices.
    • Reinforce safe equipment operation and a culture of personal responsibility for workplace safety.
    • Regularly visit locations to observe operations firsthand, build relationships, and identify opportunities for improvement.
    • Establish meaningful warehouse KPIs and support accountability through clear expectations and operating standards.

What We Are Looking For

We are more interested in what you have accomplished, how you think, and how you lead than in checking boxes on a résumé.

The ideal candidate will have significant hands-on experience in warehouse, distribution, supply chain, or related operations leadership roles. They should have a strong understanding of inventory control, cycle counting, shipping and receiving, material handling, warehouse organization, safety, and process improvement. Experience overseeing multiple locations is strongly preferred.

Experience with Microsoft Dynamics 365 Business Central is a plus, as is experience participating in an ERP implementation, warehouse management system deployment, or major systems conversion.

Most importantly, we're looking for someone who:

  • Takes ownership of problems and works toward solutions rather than simply pointing them out.
    • Has a natural curiosity about how things work and whether there is a better way to do them.
    • Believes continuous improvement is part of the job and never settles for "that's how we've always done it."
    • Creates a sense of urgency without creating unnecessary chaos.
    • Develops people rather than simply directing them.
    • Leads by serving the people responsible for getting the work done.
    • Takes pride in clean, organized, safe, and accurate operations.
    • Holds themselves and others accountable while earning the respect of the people doing the work.
    • Understands the importance of teamwork across locations and departments and makes decisions based on what is best for the company as a whole.
    • Is comfortable spending significant time in our locations and on the warehouse floor.
    • Can influence change across an organization without relying solely on title or authority.
    • Understands that processes and systems should support employees and customers, not become obstacles to getting work done.
    • Has high standards, a positive outlook, and the ambition and persistence to continually raise the bar.

Compensation and Benefits

  • Competitive compensation commensurate with experience
    • Medical, dental, vision, and life insurance
    • 401(k) with company match
    • Paid time off and paid holidays
    • Ongoing training and professional development
    • Opportunities for advancement within a growing company
