Position Overview

We are seeking a motivated and detail-oriented Data Privacy Intern to join our team. This internship offers a unique opportunity to gain hands-on experience in healthcare data privacy, risk, compliance, and information security within a dynamic organization. The ideal candidate will have a keen interest in healthcare privacy regulations, data use, management, & protection best practices, and a desire to contribute to safeguarding sensitive information.

Key Responsibilities

• Assist with the review and documentation of data life cycle activities across the organization.
• Support the implementation and monitoring of data privacy policies and procedures.
• Conduct research on current and emerging privacy laws, such as HIPAA, state privacy laws, GDPR, CCPA, and other relevant standards.
• Help prepare materials and presentations to educate staff about data privacy and security awareness.
• Participate in privacy impact assessments and risk analysis for new projects or systems.
• Engage in data privacy, risk, and compliance projects as assigned.
• Maintain accurate records of privacy-related activities and documentation.

Qualifications

• Currently pursuing a Bachelor’s or Master’s degree in Information Systems, Computer Science, Law, Business, or a related field.
• Strong interest in healthcare data privacy, data use, data management, and data protection.
• Excellent research, analytical, and organizational skills.
• Strong written and verbal communication abilities.
• Ability to handle sensitive information with discretion and integrity.
• Proficiency in Microsoft Office Suite; familiarity with data management tools is a plus.
