The 2028 Games mark the return of the Summer Games to the U.S. for the first time in 32 years and Los Angeles’ third time hosting an Olympic Games and first time welcoming the Paralympic Games. Manager, Signage Systems

The Manager, Signage Systems will play a key role in developing the signage system that will be used for the LA28 Olympic and Paralympic Games. This position will focus on building signage templates within signage-specific applications, ensuring accuracy, consistency, and scalability across all venues. The position will also assist in developing the Signage Catalog, in coordination with our Design team.  

The ideal candidate has extensive experience delivering signage for large-scale events or tournaments, with strong knowledge of temporary signage structures, production methods, and event overlay environments. This position requires strong systems thinking, exceptional attention to detail, and the ability to collaborate closely across design, operations, and venue teams. 

Key Responsibilities:

Signage Systems & Template Development 

  • Develop and maintain signage templates using specialized signage application systems (e.g., tools similar to SignAgent). Templates include wayfinding structures, functional area (FA) signage, and custom signage types
  • Ensure all templates comply with LA28 brand standards, terminology, technical specifications, and production requirements
  • Support the build-out and ongoing refinement of the LA28 signage system, including naming conventions, system logic, and workflow management
  • Apply knowledge of automation processes and design software to support high-volume artwork generation, particularly for FA signage 

Signage Catalog & Kit of Parts Support 

  • Assist with the creation, organization, and continuous improvement of the LA28 Signage Catalog and Kit of Parts in collaboration with the design team
  • Review and advise on signage types, templates, specifications, materials, installation methods, and format variations
  • Lead prototyping of signage templates and signage structure development to ensure feasibility and production readiness
  • Ensure signage systems are ADA compliant, ensuring an inclusive signage delivery for the games 

Event & Tournament Signage Expertise 

  • Apply knowledge of temporary and tournament signage structures to structure templates, formats, and specifications
  • Support venue planning teams with signage requirements related to wayfinding, operational flows, sport competition, broadcast, and spectator experience, including venue scoping plans
  • Participate in internal reviews, working sessions, and venue visits as needed to validate signage system functionality
  • Games time role may include on-venue & on-ground support for signage delivery and maintenance in venues

Background & Requirements:

  • 5+ years of experience in wayfinding & signage planning, or major tournament signage delivery
  • Hands-on experience with signage application systems (e.g. SignAgent) 
  • Strong understanding of signage production, temporary structures, installation methods, and material specifications
  • Familiarity with architectural drawings, venue plans, and large-scale event layouts
  • Strong organizational skills and comfort working with technical data, naming conventions, and structured systems
  • Ability to work collaboratively in a fast-paced, evolving project environment
  • Experience working on Olympic & Paralympic games, or other large global sporting events
  • Knowledge of wayfinding principles, environmental design, or event operations
  • Experience contributing to Kits of Parts, signage catalogs, or system documentation
  • Experience working within a multi-venue, multi-stakeholder environment

Education:

  • Bachelor’s degree in Graphic Design, Industrial Design, Architecture, Urban Planning, Environmental Design, Event Management, or related field; or equivalent professional experience
  • Training or hands-on experience with signage management software
  • Proficiency with design tools such as Adobe Illustrator, InDesign, or other vector-based artwork programs
  • ADA accessibility training or certification related to signage and environmental design preferred

Physical Requirements and Working Conditions:

  • The position is based in Los Angeles with in-person attendance required
  • The LA28 office is an open floorplan working environment, employees must be able to work efficiently in an open cubicle environment
  • The majority of work will be conducted in an office setting, requiring extended periods of time using computers, phones, and other office equipment 
  • Comfortable navigating construction areas, temporary event environments, and multi-level venues
  • Ability to travel locally within the Los Angeles area and occasionally regionally as required for venue walkthroughs or operational planning
  • Full-time office role during planning phase; significant time spent in meetings, collaborative work sessions, and system-building tasks. More on-site role closer to games time delivery
  • Fast-paced, deadline-driven atmosphere typical of major event planning cycles
  • Periods of high workload leading up to and during Games time, including the possibility of extended hours, evenings, weekends, and holiday work
  • On-venue work during the Games may involve outdoor environments, exposure to weather, long walking distances, and navigating crowds or active operational zones
  • Collaboration with multiple internal departments, venue teams, and external vendors under evolving project requirements

The annual base salary range for this position is $88,000.00 - $115,000.00. The pay scale provided is the range that LA28 reasonably expects to pay as starting base compensation for this role. All LA28 compensation remains subject to final determination based on individual candidate qualifications, experience, or other reasonable criteria consistent with LA28’s operational business needs and applicable law.
