The Role

Lakeside Software has multiple position openings for Technical Translator Interns; this is an excellent opportunity for language student interns to assist in the translation of Lakeside’s award-winning, proprietary software, SysTrack, for international markets. Applicants must be fluent in the target language(s) and proficient in technical terminology. Responsibilities include initial translation of product UI strings and testing to identify strings needing further refinement.

What You'll Do

The core functions of this role include:

  • Translating UI strings of content from English to a target language
  • Reproducing content in a manner that keeps original meaning from source language, while meeting compliance and requirements of the target language
  • Testing the product for issues that hinder successful translation
  • Collaborating with Lakeside team members to confirm translations

What You’ll Bring to Lakeside

The key requirements for this include:

  • Fluency in either Spanish, German, and/ or French language(s)
  • Ability to accurately translate technical terms and phrases
  • Understanding cultural norms, expressions, references, and other factors applicable to users who speak the target language
  • Strong time management and the ability to work independently
  • Attention to detail and a commitment to quality

Additional Details

  • Location: Hybrid, Ann Arbor, MI
  • Initial and/or occasional in-office work may be required if located in Ann Arbor, MI; however, the majority of the work will be performed remotely using your own computer.
  • This is a short-term, part-time role focused on completing the translation for a specific language
  • There may be an opportunity for ongoing, smaller tasks to maintain translations over the long term
  • Hourly rate - $20-25/hour (depending on experience)
