About this position:

Reporting directly to a Director of Software Development, you will lead a team of individual contributors (e.g. software and QA/Test developers) to deliver high quality, performant software for our social performance platform. You will gain and leverage your deep understanding of the product and our customers to ensure delivery to meet and exceed business outcomes.

A Technical Manager will have strong leadership skills, is passionate about technology and culture, and uses a collaborative style to partner with individuals across Technology and across the organization, including product management, design, marketing and support.  This is a player-coach role, so strong technology fundamentals are essential. You will be responsible for supporting and developing your development team, leading by example with your technical acumen and inclusive and collaborative approach to delivering outcomes.

What you'll be doing:

  • Lead a team of individual contributors to produce strong outcomes for the business 
  • Full Career Development cycle for individual contributors, including regular 1:1s, coaching and providing feedback for performance, growth and development 
  • Work closely with your product manager and designer (and the product management team in general) to understand scope and delivery requirements. Manage changes in project scope, priorities, and team structure effectively to minimize disruption and maintain focus.
  • Use data and metrics to understand, measure and manage team and individual performance, focusing on continuous improvement of developer productivity
  • Provide regular updates on project status, team performance, and potential issues
  • Foster a culture of innovation by encouraging team members to explore new technologies, tools, methodologies, and identify training needs, providing opportunities for team members to enhance their skills and knowledge.
  • Leverage team feedback and input to enhance practices in technology usage and delivery
  • Communicate across the technology and product organization to advocate for your team and suggest areas for ongoing improvement 
  • Contribute to deliverables as a player/coach, demonstrating a high degree of ownership and technical acumen to help the team deliver on their commitments
  • Oversee the implementation of quality assurance processes and best practices
  • Monitor and manage technical debt, ensuring that it is addressed in a timely manner to maintain code quality.
  • Promote knowledge sharing within the team through regular meetings, code reviews, and collaborative sessions. Ensure that all project documentation, including design specs, user manuals, and technical guides, is up-to-date and accessible.
  • Ensure that customer feedback is integrated into the development process to enhance product usability and satisfaction.

  • Experience in a leadership role, including hiring, mentoring, coaching, and/or performance management 
  • 3+ years experience in understanding all aspects of software engineering, including coding, testing, maintenance, architecture and design, security and operations.
  • 3+ years experience of building or supporting the delivery of software-as-a-service (SaaS) and successfully executing in the SaaS environment
  • A background in hands-on software engineering, specifically with building web/mobile applications at scale
  • Proven experience working closely with product managers, designers, and other stakeholders to understand scope and delivery requirements.
  • A diverse base of knowledge that allows you to help your team solve complex problems
  • Ability to use data and metrics to understand, measure, and manage team and individual performance, focusing on continuous improvement.
  • Strong verbal and written communication skills to provide regular updates on project status, team performance, and potential issues.
  • Ability to effectively communicate across the product organizations, advocating for the team and suggesting areas for improvement.
  • Expertise with best in class Agile software development processes across the entire SDLC (DevOps, Automated Testing, Requirements Management, etc)
  • Critical thinker with demonstrated capabilities to quickly resolve complex challenges
  • Experience fostering a culture of innovation by encouraging team members to explore new technologies, tools, and methodologies.
  • Experience overseeing the implementation of quality assurance processes and best practices to ensure high-quality deliverables.

Our approach to compensation:

We take a market-based & data-driven approach to compensation. We leverage data from trusted third-party compensation sources to help us understand the market value of a role based on function, level, geographic location, and scope. We evaluate compensation bi-annually, including performance and market-related factors.

Our salaries are benchmarked against market Total Cash Compensation for the geographic location of our job posting. Compensation for some roles is structured as On Target Earnings (OTE = base + commission/variable) while for others it is structured as Salary only.

To comply with local legislation and ensure transparency, we share salary ranges on all job postings. Skills, experience and other factors help determine the final salary we offer which may vary from the original range posted. 

Additionally, all permanent team members are granted stock options and are eligible to participate in various benefits plans as part of their overall compensation package.

Salary Range: 

$145,000 - 175,000
