Lead Payroll Specialist
LearnUpon is looking for a Lean Payroll Specialist join our team. This is a hybrid role, working 3 days per week from our Dublin office.

Accurate and smooth payroll processing and reporting is vital. You will be responsible for helping the financial operations of the company run smoothly. This is a great opportunity for a self motivated individual to join a rapidly growing software company and own the payroll function as we scale.
What will I be doing?
Reporting to the Financial Controller, you will:
- Ensure timely and accurate completion of payroll and payments to employees and contractors across international locations, including payroll reporting.
- Liaise with and manage external third party payroll providers to coordinate payroll processing accurately and in compliance with taxation regulations. Use third party software to manage and process payroll.
- Managing all payroll components, including benefits in kind (BIK), bonuses, commission, holiday pay, and statutory payments (sick, maternity, paternity, parental leave) consistent with local regulations.
- Administering employee benefits, including Tax Saver schemes, Bike to Work, pension contributions, and health insurance, ensuring compliance and accurate payroll deductions.
- Ensuring payroll reconciliation, data integrity, and compliance with regulatory requirements.
- Collaborating with HR and Finance teams to resolve payroll issues and streamline processes.
- Perform updates to payroll-related information and data and manage overall payroll workflow. Ensure timely processing of all new hires, promotions and terminations.
- Ownership and maintenance of master payroll file (incorporating compensation and benefits for all current employees, new joiners and leavers) across all jurisdictions.
- Month end reporting including preparation of payroll journals and balance sheet reconciliations, and overall payroll reporting to senior leadership.
- Engage, participate and lead process improvement projects and identify areas where further improvements can be made to save time and improve accuracy.
- Responsible for calculation of R&D tax credits and employee grants applications.
- Working closely with our Business Process Improvements team to implement a payroll consolidation tool which will streamline our payroll processes.
- Be the primary point of contact to answer questions regarding payroll from employees and other coworkers.
What skills do I need?
- Must have a minimum of three years’ experience processing payroll in an accounts department
- Ability to work in a fast paced environment, processing large volumes of data accurately. Proficient in data entry
- Ability to learn and understand payroll and taxation requirements across multiple locations such as Ireland, USA, Serbia, and Australia
- Confident using systems, excel, word etc
- Ability to work under pressure and keep to deadlines. Excellent verbal and written communication skills
- Strong attention to detail
- Strong administration skills
- Interest in process improvement and appetite for automation
