Summary:  

As the Sr. Manager of Environment, Health & Safety (EHS), you will lead a team dedicated to ensuring workplace safety and compliance with regard to state and federal occupational health and safety regulations and standards and manage environmental compliance programs including air quality renewable operating permit, NPDES permit, hazardous and non-hazardous waste, Storm Water Pollution Prevention, SPCC, Form R, Tier II, GHG, and DOT hazardous materials management, in addition to fire prevention, protection and emergency response plans and actions, as well as occupational injury and illness management.

 

Responsibilities

  • Accountable for achieving strategic objectives in the areas of team member safety, environmental protection, and loss prevention, including implementation of safety programs, OSHA compliance, reductions in worker's compensation incidents and recordkeeping
  • Ensure plant-wide compliance with all OSHA, EPA or other state/local laws and regulations
  • Establish the site’s EHS management system in collaboration with corporate EHS resources and ensure alignment with corporate requirements.
  • Work to create a company culture that puts safety first for all team members, improve processes, and improve key metrics such as Incident Rate and Lost Time Injury Frequency Rate (LTIFR)
  • Ensure effective injury prevention activities, including hazard identification and mitigation for plant operations and administrative offices
  • Manage site Occupational Injury/Illness Management process, treatment services and KPIs
  • Collect, track, and report EHS data, metrics, and KPI’s
  • Contribute to internal and external environmental audits
  • Provide leadership for sustainability projects and collaborate with departments to meet sustainability goals
  • Lead and manage the ISO 14001, 45001 certification process and lead the Environmental Compliance Team to drive continuous improvement in all environmental programs
  • Ensure EHS Team Members conduct daily line walks to ensure EHS practices are being observed and to note any at-risk behaviors, unsafe conditions, faulty equipment or non-compliance with any EHS related policies/regulations 
  • Ensure timely communication of safety issues/concerns to department leadership 
  • Lead cross-functional teams to drive improvements across the organization
  • Establish incident investigation standards as the process owner, and ensure EHS Team Members participate in incident investigations and track corrective actions
  • Direct EHS team’s activity in conducting new equipment reviews, mechanical risk assessments and ergonomic risk assessments
  • Develop and establish the site’s Emergency Response Plan, lead emergency response drills and After Action Reviews
  • Provide leadership on behalf of site fire prevention brigade and emergency operations center.
  • Manage EHS component of new hire orientation, contractor safety and other EHS related training.
  • Develop/update site specific programs to ensure compliance with all applicable regulations
  • Provide leadership in work-site housekeeping expectations at work-site in accordance with 5S3R Standards:
    • Sort, Set in order, Shine, Standardize, Sustain
    • Right Location, Right Quantity, Right Container
  • Conduct thorough and timely Layered Process Audits in appropriate work areas
  • Perform other duties as assigned

 

Qualifications:

  • Bachelor’s degree in Occupational Safety, Industrial Hygiene, Environmental Engineering or related field; MBA or MS preferred, or equivalent, relevant experience
  • Professional certification (CSP, CIH, CHMM) preferred
  • 10+ years of experience evaluating and improving EHS programs in a manufacturing environment
  • Experience managing ISO 14001, 45001 certification
  • Strong knowledge of and experience working with OSHA, EPA and state/local regulations and requirements
  • Knowledge in advanced manufacturing technology, chemicals, and pneumatics a plus
