LISC Milwaukee is a local office within National LISC, the nation's largest nonprofit Community Development Financial Institution (CDFI). LISC Milwaukee has nearly 30 years of experience working as a catalyst for community reinvestment in Milwaukee. We help resident-led, community-based development organizations transform distressed neighborhoods into healthy places to live, work, worship, do business and raise families. Increasingly, we also work with and lend to for-profit entities that share our community development mission and goals. Since 1995, LISC Milwaukee and our affiliates (the National Equity Fund and Broadstreet) have invested nearly $195 million in Milwaukee's neighborhoods, including grants, loans and equity leading to more than $658 million in total development, including 4,260 homes and apartments built or improved.

Responsibilities

This role offers an exciting opportunity to work alongside a talented team of community development professionals on innovative community development initiatives that are addressing equitable development, affordable housing, economic opportunity and access to capital. In particular, this position will support our team’s deployment and management of numerous investments in nonprofit partners and mission aligned for profit entities, especially emerging developers and graduates of our ACRE program.  Our investments can include grants, equity, and/or loans in support of real estate projects and small businesses.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Foster new and deepened relationships with community partners and borrowers
  • Track data and develop accurate, accessible, and up-to-date reporting for grants/partner projects.
  • Perform additional duties as assigned by the Director of Program and Partnerships or Executive Director

Program Responsibilities:

  • Support the local Program Officer for Lending in managing the Milwaukee loan portfolio and pipeline, gather and organize underwriting due diligence, prepare loan intake forms, loan writeups, and documentation for loan closings.
  • Assist the Program Officer for Economic Development with the Brew City Match and Financial Opportunity Center (FOC) programs through administrative and project management support
  • Work principally from the Milwaukee office, or in the field, an average of 3 days per week, with 2 days of work from home anticipated, and additional flexibility available
  • Periodically travel outside of the Milwaukee area for peer learning, training and national LISC activities

Qualifications

  • Interest in and commitment to the community development mission of LISC
  • Bachelor’s degree from an accredited college or university preferred, however, experience considered
  • Two years or more experience in community and/or economic development with program or project management experience with community-based organizations preferred
  • Experience should include a successful track record developing or managing projects, including financial management and budgeting
  • Working knowledge of the economic, political and social environments of Milwaukee, especially community development organizations and efforts
  • Strong project management, research and data analysis skills
  • Ability to communicate effectively and work collaboratively with co-workers and a diverse range of individuals and stakeholders, including but not limited to residents, community development organizations, public agencies, private developers, and funders
  • Excellent technical skills; proficient in Microsoft’s office products: Word, Excel, Outlook, and Teams, with ability to learn other systems used by LISC
  • Well-organized, very detail-oriented, committed to accuracy, attention to detail, timely reporting and deadlines.
  • Self-directed; must be able to both set priorities for a challenging workload and work simultaneously on multiple tasks without compromising quality
  • Superior interpersonal skills and the ability to work independently with minimal supervision as well as part of a team

Compensation

LISC offers a competitive salary ($57,200 - $71,400) and excellent fringe benefits.
