POSITION DESCRIPTION:
LISC Hampton Roads seeks a self-motivated and qualified individual passionate about affordable housing, equitable development, and safe and healthy neighborhoods for a Program Assistant position. This individual will be responsible for grant-based reporting efforts, data management, grant management, relationship-building/managing with external partners, coordinating administrative tasks for the office, and other duties as assigned.
The Program Assistant will work closely with the Program Officer, Executive Director, and other team members to ensure successful implementation of strategic partnerships. This position requires a strong commitment to the role of community-based non-profit organizations as well as an understanding of the broader community development ecosystem in Hampton Roads. This person must have the capacity to simultaneously work on multiple tasks, set priorities for a challenging workload with great organization, initiative, attention to detail, and timely follow-through, as well as high standards for accuracy and efficiency. The Program Assistant reports directly to the Executive Director.
RESPONSIBILITIES:
The following are an indication of the position’s core responsibilities; these are intended to illustrate the scope of responsibilities and are not exclusive of other duties that may be required.
- Coordinate work across sectors with partners, advocates, local government, and others to advance goals in affordable housing, community/economic development, small business, health/safety, and more.
- Assist with design and administration of programs and initiatives.
- Support the Executive Director, Program Officer, Lending Program Office, Development Officer, and other relevant LISC Hampton Roads staff on project specific tasks such as data management, project management, and strategic planning.
- Coordinate with LISC national and local partners on programmatic and administrative-related tasks that further the LISC Hampton Roads mission.
- Support LISC capacity-building work by identifying organizational capacity needs of community partners and facilitate delivery of technical assistance.
- Carry out staff-assisted visits to external funding recipients as needed to ensure programmatic compliance as well as to provide technical assistance.
- Assist with facilitating and convening meetings, trainings, workshops, information sessions, and/or orientations to build partners’ capacity and access to resources.
- Represent LISC Hampton Roads in coalitions, working groups, and other forums related to community resilience, affordable housing, small business, capacity-building, and other areas as applicable.
- Build and maintain mutually trusting relationships with external partner agencies, relevant municipal officials, consultants, contractors, community leaders, residents, and other stakeholders to support the implementation of LISC goals.
- Perform all other duties as assigned.
QUALIFICATIONS:
- Bachelor’s degree from an accredited college or university in Business Administration, Finance, Economics/Urban Planning, Community Development, Urban Studies, Real Estate Development/Finance, Nonprofit Management or related fields/equivalent experience.
- Minimum 2 (two) years of relevant work experience and willingness to create a positive and productive work environment.
- Knowledge of affordable homeownership development and finance strongly encouraged.
- Strong oral and written communication skills, including experience speaking publicly in diverse forums and proficiency with Microsoft Office suite.
- Excellent research, writing, editing, and analytical skills.
- Commitment to fostering inclusivity across all programmatic activities.
- Experience working with complex non-profit or for-profit data and financial management systems, including program and case management, budgeting, grants, and contract management.
- Highly motivated, solution-oriented, entrepreneurial individual who is self-directed, and able to successfully balance multiple priorities, be flexible, and work in a fast-paced environment.
- Flexibility to effectively collaborate and provide high level of customer service to clients and colleagues, present information, and write cohesive reports for audiences with varying degrees of expertise.
- Prior experience with federal grant monitoring and compliance is beneficial.
COMPENSATION & BENEFITS:
LISC offers a competitive salary ($57,200 - $71,400) commensurate with experience and excellent benefits.
