Director of Operations

The Director of Operations will oversee logistics, fulfillment, systems management, and process optimization across Little Words Project’s omnichannel business. This role is critical to ensuring operational excellence from warehouse to customer, with a focus on cross-functional coordination, systems integration, and vendor/partner management.

Responsibilities: 

  • Logistics & Fulfillment:
    • Manage inbound and outbound sales orders across e-commerce, wholesale, and retail channels.
    • Coordinate purchase orders, transfer orders, and inventory flows across departments.
    • Lead daily warehouse operations including staffing, calendar planning, and fulfillment priorities.
    • Partner with third-party freight and fulfillment providers to monitor shipments, resolve delays, and troubleshoot issues.
    • Ensure timely communication and resolution of trouble SKUs, including alignment with CX and use of documentation.
    • Oversee EDI order processing and resolve integration issues across platforms (e.g., SPS, Target, Nordstrom).
    • Validate account-specific requirements for labeling, packaging, and shipping are met for all retail partners.
    • Manage retailer-specific portals and vendor compliance processes (SPS, Target, Nordstrom, etc.).
    • Maintain SKU damage/missing item trackers for MTO (Made-to-Order) vendors and escalate as needed.
    • Track SLA performance and reconcile projected vs. actual spend related to fulfillment and freight.
    • Analyze and manage cut-off timelines for key events across MTO and non-MTO product lines.
  • Systems & Process Management:
    • Own day-to-day ERP (NetSuite) operations related to inventory, fulfillment, and order processing.
    • Manage middleware (Celigo) integrations between Shopify, NetSuite, ShipStation, and RF Smart.
    • Ensure seamless EDI integration and functionality with wholesale partners through SPS Commerce.
    • Oversee RF Smart implementation across channels for inventory accuracy and warehouse efficiency.
    • Maintain vendor invoicing processes and retail partner portals, including documentation and compliance.
    • Identify and implement operational improvements to increase efficiency, scalability, and accuracy.

Qualifications:

  • 7+ years of operations leadership experience, preferably in an omnichannel retail or consumer products brand.
  • Deep experience managing 3PLs, warehouse operations, and multi-channel fulfillment strategies.
  • Proficiency with NetSuite ERP, Celigo, ShipStation, RF Smart, and EDI platforms (SPS Commerce).
  • Bilingual in Spanish is a plus
  • Strong analytical skills and comfort with data analysis, forecasting, and operational reporting.
  • Excellent communication and project management skills with a cross-functional mindset.
  • Experience with Made-to-Order production processes and retail compliance is a plus.
  • Ability to thrive in a fast-paced, growth-oriented environment with a hands-on approach.
  • Ability to work from Mountainside, New Jersey 5 days per week
