As a Senior Embedded Flight Software Engineer, you'll work on Loft Federal's software team developing applications to run on our satellites, interfacing directly with customer payloads. We are looking for engineers who are able to comprehend interconnected systems, who enjoy solving complex challenges, and who are curious about how everything. You'll be a key member of a small, agile team, and be able to participate in the full lifecycle of a satellite.

Mission Objectives

  • Design and develop software applications to run on our satellites over a distributed system running Embedded Linux.
  • Integrate, debug, and test flight software applications on satellite hardware.
  • Provide technical assistance in troubleshooting satellite issues.
  • Participate in operation of satellites.

Mission Mandates

  • C/C++ Application Development
  • Embedded Linux Experience 
  • Distributed Systems
  • Proficiency with Python 
  • Hardware-in-the-loop testing
  • Active DoD Secret clearance is required.
  • The ability to obtain and maintain a Top Secret / Sensitive Compartmented Information (TS/SCI) clearance is required.
  • Preference will be given to candidates with a DoD or Intelligence Community Top Secret background investigation with at least 3 years of eligibility remaining or CE status; and SCI eligibility with current experience in SCI programs, other control systems, and/or Special Access Programs

Mission Credentials

  • Following test driven development practices
  • Clearly and concisely communicate technical problems and propose thorough, iterative solutions
  • Taste for large exposure across internal and external teams
  • Experience with communication protocols, high-level (gRPC) and low-level (custom implementation of bit-packed protocols)
  • A solid understanding of distributed systems and service oriented architectures
  • Working understanding of Docker or other containerization services

 

 

Per Colorado law, we are required to disclose the base compensation range for this role. This range is intentionally wide as we assess individuals based on their unique abilities and experience to find the best fit for our needs. Ultimately, your compensation will be determined by your education, experience, knowledge, skills, and abilities.

Salary Range

$100,000 - $180,000 USD
