Loft Federal is seeking an Software Engineer with experience in Security to design and secure the systems behind our national security space missions.

You will own the security architecture from day one. You will join a small, senior team where your expertise carries weight and your work shows up in the mission right away.

You will partner with software, systems, infrastructure, and mission engineers. Together you will build security into each phase of the system lifecycle, from architecture and implementation through authorization and continuous monitoring.

This role pairs hands-on engineering with RMF execution. Our systems meet government security requirements and our missions ship fast.

This is a full-time hybrid role in Arvada, CO.

What You'll Do

  • Build cybersecurity into the design and development of space and ground systems.
  • Design secure architectures and implement controls aligned to NIST RMF and DoD requirements.
  • Find, assess, and fix vulnerabilities with engineering teams.
  • Support system hardening, vulnerability management, and continuous monitoring.
  • Lead security architecture reviews, threat modeling, and risk assessments.
  • Integrate security into automated pipelines with DevSecOps teams.
  • Work with government customers, ISSMs, and program teams to keep systems compliant and mission ready.

Must Haves

  • Active Top Secret clearance (TS/SCI eligibility preferred)
  • Bachelor's degree in Cybersecurity, Computer Science, Engineering, or a related technical field
  • One IAT Level III certification: CISSP, SecurityX (CASP+), CCNP, or CCSP
  • 5+ years of software engineering experience with a security focus, such as systems security engineering or cybersecurity engineering
  • Hands-on experience with C++ and Python
  • Experience implementing DoD RMF and NIST SP 800-53 controls
  • Experience building RMF artifacts and supporting ATO efforts
  • Working knowledge of system hardening and vulnerability management
  • Solid grasp of secure system architecture
  • Strong communication and collaboration skills
  • Must be able to work onsite 3 days per week, and travel up to 10%

Nice to Haves

  • Experience on DoD, Intelligence Community, or national security space programs
  • Windows and Linux administration
  • Cloud security, Kubernetes, containers, or DevSecOps
  • ACAS, Nessus, DISA STIGs, or similar assessment tools

This range is intentionally wide as we assess individuals based on their unique abilities and experience to find the best fit for our needs. Ultimately, your compensation will be determined by your education, experience, knowledge, skills, and abilities.

Salary Range

$110,000 - $150,000 USD
