Position Summary
The Intellectual Property Paralegal will provide comprehensive support for trademark, copyright, patent, and IP portfolio management matters. The ideal candidate is highly organized, detail-oriented, possess strong written and verbal communication skills with the ability to interact professionally with clients, attorneys and outside service providers, and will have experience in managing deadlines, filings, and correspondence with the United States Patent and Trademark Office (USPTO) and other intellectual property offices.

Trademark Matters
- Preparing and filing U.S. trademark applications, renewals, declarations of use, and related filings through the USPTO.
- Maintaining and monitoring trademark prosecution and renewal deadlines.
- Conducting preliminary trademark searches and assist with search report reviews.
- Preparing trademark status reports and portfolio summaries for clients.
- Coordinating foreign trademark filings with international associates.
Patent Matters
- Assisting attorneys with U.S. and foreign patent prosecution matters.
- Preparing and filing patent application documents and related correspondence.
- Monitoring patent deadlines and docketing requirements.
- Coordinating filings with foreign associates and clients.
- Maintaining patent prosecution records and supporting documentation.
IP Docket Administration and Management
- Overseeing and managing outside IP docketing service provider (provide instructions and oversight, manage processes, investigate issues, attend status calls).
- Managing docketing software database (coordinate input and removal of records, prepare and modify data reports, review and audit data).
- Monitoring docket for approaching deadlines and communicating critical dates and action items to attorneys and clients.
- Overseeing, managing and coordinating renewals, annuities, and maintenance fees among the IP group attorneys, clients and outsource vendors.
Client and Administrative Support
- Communicating directly with clients regarding filing requirements and deadlines.
- Generating IP portfolio status reports for clients.
- Coordinating invoices, filing fees, and foreign associate billing.
- Supporting attorneys with special projects and client portfolio reviews.
Requirements
- Minimum 5 years of intellectual property paralegal experience.
- Significant experience with trademark prosecution and portfolio management.
- Working knowledge of USPTO rules, procedures, and electronic filing systems.
- Experience using IP docketing software.
- Strong organizational and deadline-management skills.
- Excellent written and verbal communication abilities.
- Proficiency with Microsoft Office Suite.
- Bachelor's degree and/or Paralegal Certificate.
Preferred
- Experience in both trademark and patent prosecution.
- Familiarity with foreign trademark and patent filings.
- Experience supporting IP due diligence in corporate transactions.
- Knowledge of IP management systems.
Salary and benefits: The annual salary range for this position is $90,000-$100,000. Consistent with applicable law, compensation will be contingent on the skills, qualifications, and experience of the applicant and the requirements of the position. LP offers generous compensation and benefits packages, including medical, dental and vision benefits, paid parental leave, tuition reimbursement, and eligibility for performance-based bonuses.
