Sr. Mechanical Engineer, HV Battery

As a Mechanical Engineer in the HV Battery team, you will develop state-of-the-art HV devices, Battery Disconnect Units, HV/LV harnesses, and distribution systems for electric vehicles. You will investigate challenges and implement innovative solutions. Role:
- You will own the design of core battery technology (i.e. Battery Disconnect Units, HV/LV harnesses, busbars, connectors, HV devices) for the Lucid Air, Gravity, and Midsize from concept to production.
- You will conceptualize, test, and release high volume battery components that will enable Lucid to make the most compelling and sustainable vehicles in the world.
- Your innovative battery designs will directly influence key aspects of Lucid’s acclaimed electric powertrains, including safety, mass, performance, cost, and reliability.
- You’ll learn to leverage your engineering skills to tackle complex, cross-functional battery design challenges.
- You will push boundaries and reimagine what’s possible in EV performance, efficiency, and design.
- You will expand your engineering skills by navigating unfamiliar challenges.
Qualifications:
- 3-6 years of experience as a major contributor in a fast-paced engineering environment
- Strong mechanical engineering fundamentals
- Knowledge of GD&T, its application on drawings, and tolerance stack-ups
- Strong CAD skills using 3DX/Catia or similar software
- Prior experience designing parts that have shipped in volume
- Knowledge of manufacturing processes such as harness fabrication, injection molding, stamping, insulation methods, and end of line testing
- Experience in developing the DFMEA and DVP
- Experience with root cause analysis and corrective action processes
- Hands-on experience designing and building electro-mechanical systems
- Well-developed teamwork and interpersonal skills in a cross-functional environment
Preferred:
- 1-2 years of experience designing high voltage batteries or battery disconnect components (60VDC+, FSAE Electric, etc)
- Experience with automotive engineering and product validation
Education:
- BS and/or MS in Mechanical Engineering or related disciplines
Base Pay Range (Annual)
$133,400 - $183,300 USD
