Intern, ECU Hardware Development Engineer, Summer 2025
We are seeking a highly motivated and detail-oriented summer intern to join our Low voltage EE team to support hardware development and testing of various Electronic Control Units for infotainment, connectivity, and control processing in electric vehicles. Develop test fixtures and test scripts for Hardware bring-up and test: support design and verification processes and other related duties under the mentorship of senior engineers. The ideal candidate will have a strong understanding of engineering fundamentals, computer hardware, and software, and be able to work independently and collaboratively to ensure our ECUs are designed and perform meeting specifications.
Role/Responsibilities:
· Support and perform various stages of ECU design following our design methodology flow
· Create hardware prototype to facilitate Proof of Concept using available hardware (existing ECUs, EV boards, PC etc)
· Support hardware bring up and testing of in-house developed ECUs
· Developed test scripts and test cases to facilitate good test coverage and efficiency.
· Document test and diagnostic process, including detailed steps, procedures and results
· Assist senior engineers in design and verification of system hardware and identifying areas for improvement
· Work with cross-functional teams and suppliers to ensure the objective is meet
· Assist with troubleshooting system issues and identifying solutions
· Communicate regularly with senior engineers and other team members to provide progress updates and receive feedback
· Participate in team meetings and contribute to team projects as needed
· Maintain accurate and detailed records of all activities
Preferred Qualifications:
· Knowledge of electronic system design. Comfortable reading schematics and IC datasheets.
· Experience in SW developing and writing testing scripts and test cases
· Strong analytical and problem-solving skills
· Excellent written and verbal communication skills
· Ability to work independently and collaboratively in a team environment
· Familiar with mechanical CAD is desirable
Field(s) of study: EE, ME, Computer Engineering, or a related field
· Currently enrolled in a Bachelor’s, Master’s Degree program at an accredited university.
· Proof of enrollment in current or into next program (MS)
Program Information:
- Timing: May- August, or June-September pending class schedules.
- Duration of Internship: Our internship program is 12 weeks; the end date is flexible based on individual needs.
- Work Location & Environment: This position will be in Newark, CA, and is fully in-person. You must be prepared to start onsite for your first day of employment. The working environment will be a mix of lab & office work.
- Compensation: Student compensation is based on location and current degree level, non-negotiable ranging from $48 to $66.
- Relocation: May be provided on a case to case basis.
- Housing/Transportation: You must provide your own living arrangements and transportation in the local area.
- Background Check: All offers of employment are contingent on clearing a background check.
- Drug Screening: All offers of employment are contingent on passing a drug screen.

Base Pay Range (hourly)
$48 - $66 USD
