Sr. Engineer, Interiors, Instrument Panel

We are currently seeking a Sr. Design Release Engineer, Interior, Instrument Panel. This position requires an experienced professional with the ability to work with one of the most passionate engineers of a global team. Responsibilities:
- Develop and design interior Instrument Panel systems and components on premium Lucid vehicles
- Lead the full design phase from the first sketch to the final component release and into production validation on vehicles
- Interface with studio, vehicle packaging, advanced engineering, manufacturing, and supplier teams to develop optimal design solutions
- Ensure all geometric, technical, and validation requirements for each milestone delivery are analyzed and met, creating and updating requirements as applicable for changing markets
- Utilize CAD methodologies to create study files, work on slab models, and apply knowledge-based engineering in Catia V6
- Support the global purchasing group from the supplier nomination phase through into value analysis during production to apply financial decision making to ensure the most reasonable costs apply for every component of the Instrument Panel
- Track build issues and improve upon designs to ensure technical expertise in the market
- Maintain bill of materials and indication of cost down potentials and manufacturing improvements
- Utilize global travel to diverse Lucid and commodity supplier locations to root-cause issues and educate on production topics
Qualifications:
- 8+ years of demonstrated experience as a detail-oriented Interior Components and Systems development lead for Instrument Panels
- Knowledge and understanding of automotive Interior Components and Systems industry benchmark, trends and supplier competencies
- Experience creating/improving/establishing technical product specifications and timelines to achieve an accelerated development cycle towards SOP
- Vehicle and product launch experience
- Experience creating complex CAD models in CATIA V6 quickly and efficiently while holding CAD part, tree, links & publications to an excellent standard
- Proven experience in interior process, such as wrapping, injection molding, painting, compression molding and other state of the art manufacturing processes
- Proven experience in common structural part manufacturing processes such as stamping, extrusion and casting
- Proven experience in geometrical dimensioning and tolerance in detail through applying tolerance targets into component locators, attachment methods and overall gap and flushness requirements
- Strong in engineering fundamentals to create solutions that are not yet state of the art
- Experienced in modal analysis, finite element method analysis and computer fluid dynamics

- A second language of Spanish or German
- Work ethic that results in overall best solutions even when required in continuous changing and high-pressure situations
- One full program cycle experience from concept to production launch in automotive instrument panels
Education Requirements:
- Bachelor of Science in Mechanical or Automotive Engineering, or other equivalent Engineering Degree
- Fluent English including technical engineering terminology
Base Pay Range (Annual)
$114,400 - $143,000 USD
